Hey guys/gals

There's going to be an autox event this sunday by where I live. I was thinking of going to check it out and be an spectator but was wondering what do I need if i do decide to try and run? This will be my first ever autox event that i have ever attended and first race/run i will do.

I know the stock Z should be good, but my one concern is my tires, i have some patch work on one of my front tires due to nails and stuff. If I do decide to run this weekend, do you guys think its safe to do so with patches on the tires or should I wait and get a set that doesn't have any "repair"? And what are other things i should consider before my first run?

just make sure your car isn't loud. I found out the old men who hang out at these events have sensitive hearing.

damn ...guess i will have to run like an old man then since i have a shockwave exhaust that screams at high rmps

but do you think i should be ok with the patches i have on my tires for events like this?

if the person who install your patches do a good job I think you are ok Go and have fun my friend!

I had a tire shop do it...this was late last year so i think i should be good ...what are the speeds/gears you guys usually run while doing autox?

Well I never run in auto-x cause those events here nobody are doing it from the earlys 2000 But my first run in the Z was a time attack event in January and the gears that I most use 3rd and 4th... sometimes 2nd and 5th on the drag straight... But I think in Auto-X if the track is a short configuration the gears that you are going to use I think are going to be 2nd and 3rd gear.

My first 5 events were on my stock yoko's with a plug in the rear tire. I was safe and it held like a champ. It was done by an ex con who had a used tire shop down the street.

i'm a newb like you since I never have ran one either (probably never will based on some comments said to me by aforementioned cool autox people I came across) but if the patches were done right I don't think it would be a major problem. I mean patches are put in and driven on while being deemed a safe repair method. but under high tire temps and stress I am not sure nor an expert on that.

yea it sucked last time when I drove up alone I think that's why I didn't stay and just left.

I know I can make it to north jersey in 6 hours or so from when I would go stay with my uncle and go to devils games. pretty good drive just for auto x lol

i live about 20 from the prudential center which is not far so if you do ever come up hit me up bro..we can go for a cruise with other z's and good spots for pics under the GWB

that's about where my uncle lived in west orange. he was a trainer for the devils for a few years so I would go down for pens v devils games then go out with him and players after the games and whatnot. it was def a good time.
