fwiw I have FI cbe and lth's and was only around 92db.

Don't forget the decibel scale is not linear but exponential so 100db is stupid loud.

My full tilt BSP car with only 1 resonator and a single ti muffler blew 99-100 and it is full retard loud.

I have 100% straight pipe set up currently. It's also full retard loud lol

does anyone run the hotckis front sway bar? I'm debating on that and the eibach but wanted to see if anyone has ran both?

Rusty 03-09-2015 10:30 PM

Alot of us run the Hotchkis bar. The rear Hotchkis bar is abit too stiff, and use the stock rear bar.

cjwsrt6 04-02-2015 12:14 PM

Just an update I ran 38f/35/r psi settings on my 285/35 rivals and have already torn off chunks of tread off the outside of the fronts, I wouldnt recommend these tires to a stock 370z with the little camber we have, or if you do maybe try 41 front psi. Only got about 25 runs before this started to happen

FWIW, on RS3s on my 370 I have picture evidence of the tires rolling over onto the sidewall at 38 PSI. I always ran at least 42 in the front and that seemed to help a lot.

I run 41 front and 31 rear, 285 RS3's all around

So who's running the BS 370z in Texas this weekend?

14BlackCherry 04-12-2015 09:28 PM

I'm not sure but they won in BS today. Says he's on Bridgestones.

FPenvy 04-12-2015 09:59 PM

Welp I don't think straight pipes are acceptable. I drove to the auto cross was today and was late, forgot cash, no ATMs around, etc (bad morning) so I went around the parking lot to leave and got a msg saying they don't like punks with open exhausts "blasting around" their events. I never cracked 25 mph my car is just loud. I see the autox crowd is one I want to be around. Rust **** boxes all around but my modifications aren't accepted

The guy said if I come back be prepared to apologize for my actions?

That was an SCCA event? If so speak with the Solo Chair or someone high up to help you out. They shouldn't be disrespecting like that and I've seen actual **** boxes at our events locally with no issues.

I never stopped nor spoke to anyone. I drove by looked around and left. The road I got back on to leave was uphill which makes my car sound even louder granted lol

Next event is in 2 weeks. I plan on going back to see who says a word to me and correct them kindly. If they are dbags about it they will find out im the biggest ******* they can piss off lol :tiphat:

If it doesn't go smoothly I'll give you guys the info on their events and names to give a little love to.

cjwsrt6 04-13-2015 05:47 AM

I'd go back, me personally I would not apologize But be aware some events have a sound check, something like 98 dB at 50 feet I believe.

Anyone experience clutch pressure loss while autocrossing? I have an aftermarket exhaust and I've heard the clutch line runs next to the exhaust. Any luck with the Z1 stainless line and higher temp fluid?

I plan on going back and if mine is out of the range for their limits that's fine. I just didn't like how the guy worded his comments to me is all.

I did my first autox yesterday in CT, it seems like the new favorite tire for street class is the direzza star spec II. It so happens to be that they were the fastest behind the A6 and other comp tires. I have yet to see someone run the new R-71, I think after another month when my BFG's crap out on me I will be getting the dunlops.

are you running the BFG rivals or something else?

those seemed to get decent reviews. I think i'm sticking with RE-11's for my DD use with some track time. I was thinking the RE-71s but from what I've heard so far they wear really fast. would not be ideal for my situation lol

Yesterday there was a HR 350Z with PPE headers and a tomei Y-pipe back, he was so loud he was told put in the silencer or leave. The silencer still was not enough. His first run when I was corner working it hurt my ears to the point where I was slightly angry because this was a new parking lot and I knew if someone was going to ruin it for everyone it was going to be him.

:shakes head: that sucks. even if I put my mufflers back on it's still probably going to be too loud for all the old guys I saw standing around.

I'm not going to revert my car to stock and reduce my cars performance to appease a small population of a group. I just want to expand my driving resume' by trying something new. oh well, we will see what happens in 2 weeks lol

Masterbeatty 04-13-2015 08:59 AM

NO BFG sport comp 2's, they are fine for DD and ok for autox street tire classes. But I need better tires to be more competitive. My club has a new class PRO S, which is any mods but you need street tires UTQG rating no lower than 200 and mine are 300 and almost bald.

I read about that class the other day. also how the RE-71's are rated 200 but no one thinks that is even remotely true based on the rapid wear during auto-x lol

Masterbeatty 04-13-2015 10:33 AM

So far I have yet to see them of know anyone that has used them. But I also found out yesterday I need to upgrade my brakes, as the ladder half of the day I was experiencing brake fade. So im thinking of the Z1 upgrade package for my base brakes or maybe just the fronts for now. Mine have 32K on them and after yesterday im pretty sure I glazed the heck out of them. RRRR, race car problems.

Wrap your clutch line with insulation. ;)

That car is driven by a current National Champion, etc...and probably not as loud as my car, which is under National SCCA levels. If the event was at Devens, I could understand since they have a super low on site db rating. If not Devens, put in ear plugs and suck it, buttercup.

so youre saying I may have a chance of being legal sound wise? lol

j-rho 04-13-2015 12:05 PM

The sound limits vary from site to site. The SCCA has a cap of 100db (@ 50') enforced at all events. My home site in San Diego is 92db @ 50'.

My 370 with a CAI, Berk HFC, resonated mid pipe, and stock muffler, blew almost 95db @50'. With no muffler I'm sure it'd be over 100.

It is getting harder and harder for autocross clubs to find and keep good sites for events. Maintaining a positive relationship with the surrounding residents is a big part of the necessary politics in keeping sites available.

yes. but they aren't currently on the car lol my FI muffler section is in the garage. I have my custom made straight sections on.

Rusty 04-13-2015 04:01 PM

Hey FPenis. Most tracks that do trackdays have a limit too. 95 to 100dB's. If you want to have fun. You may have to put a butt plug in your exhaust. Sorry.

Never had a db meter to test my car so who knows what it's at sound wise.

Hey guys/gals :hello:

There's going to be an autox event this sunday by where I live. I was thinking of going to check it out and be an spectator but was wondering what do I need if i do decide to try and run? This will be my first ever autox event that i have ever attended and first race/run i will do.

I know the stock Z should be good, but my one concern is my tires, i have some patch work on one of my front tires due to nails and stuff. If I do decide to run this weekend, do you guys think its safe to do so with patches on the tires or should I wait and get a set that doesn't have any "repair"? And what are other things i should consider before my first run?

Thanks! :tiphat:

just make sure your car isn't loud. I found out the old men who hang out at these events have sensitive hearing. :bowrofl:

i'm a newb like you since I never have ran one either (probably never will based on some comments said to me by aforementioned cool autox people I came across) but if the patches were done right I don't think it would be a major problem. I mean patches are put in and driven on while being deemed a safe repair method. but under high tire temps and stress I am not sure nor an expert on that.

I had a tire shop do it...this was late last year so i think i should be good ...what are the speeds/gears you guys usually run while doing autox?

Thanks bro!...it'll be cool if you would live closer, we could go together (no homo) and run lol
