Default Fuel Starvation Control Product

We have been developing and testing a product intended to solve the issue of fuel starvation experienced primarily during hard, extended, or repeated right turns in the 370z.

While waiting for a chance to squeeze a small production batch through over here, a prototype has been in testing with the Performance Motorsports team for several months now and has exceeded everyones expectations as far as funcationality.

We remodeled a couple new varients in attempt to build a one-unit fix-all for every single type of project 370z, from stock to 1000hp. What we ended up with is a design that, while pretty cool, is too far from the tested prototype, and we dont want to take a risk making a batch of them and run into problems.

We are about to order some billet stock (which only takes a couple days to arrive) to build a batch of the same model as the prototype. Its going to get some minor updates as we machine each piece of it, and we also are going to build production fixtures to be able to replicate them more quickly and consistently.

I need to get an idea as far as head count. We really only *want* to make around 10 of them right now to get more out there to see if anyone runs into any issues... but I also want to see what kind of head count there are as far as people currently interested. I have a feeling we may need to make quite a bit more than 10 for now.

Here is what you need to know about it:

a. This is for non-FI cars only right now. If your cars fuel needs currently exceed the capabilities of a single Walbro 255lph fuel pump, you will not want to get in this first batch. If you are FI or plan to be soon, our intentions are to test and release a FI Upgrade to this unit. One we get this batch done, I am going to test the FI Upgrade in my daily driver TT E85 370z.

b. Cost will be between $700-$1100. I know that is a large spectrum to give, but I will be able to narrow the wavelength as steps are taken throughout production and we finalize the ideal list of supplemental installation components. I am trying to get this in the lower end of the spectrum.

c. Initial production will take a couple weeks since we are going to be building fixtures for this as we go.

d: Installation will NOT require removing the fuel tank.

For those of you on-board with this, please send me an email to sales@cj-motorsports.com so I can add you to the list. Please mention some minor details about your car and what you do with it that causes you to experience the fuel starvation. A basic mod list would be great (including any significant weight additions such as big stereos, or weight reductions, try and estimate overall weight deviation from stock.. such as +50lb, or -40lb), and also please mention who typically services your 370z, yourself or what shops, etc, and who you plan to have install this for you.

Please only put yourself on the list if you consider yourself to be 80% or more likely to commit to purchasing this item. I will use your email address for a mailing list here to just send you updates and photos of the progress and mention any changes or pricing details as they evolve.

I know some of you have been waiting a super long time for us to produce this. All I can do is say that I apologize its taken this long to hit a production phase. We have had many obligations for other customers just as yourself that were commited to finishing, and it was most appropriate to get some other things out of the way before making commitments to new projects. This is a very small operation here, just 2 of us. Those of you following over from the 350z world know our reputation of being slow to market, but our products do not disappoint.

Please give me up to 24 hours to confirm your addition to the update mailing list. If for some reason you dont get a confirmation, just send me a PM here instead. Also, the order in which I put people on the list will be irrelevent.. so there is no emergency. This is really just to give us some survey information and determine how many of these things we need to make for a first batch.

The purpose of doing this via email is because I feel it is more official... having been on forums since their conception I have learned that anyone will sign up on the "count me in" list but when it comes time to pay up, the list is cut in half. I also would rather keep our production numbers private for now.

Thanks,
Charles

I would be interested. Right now I have only done two track events in the 370 but both times I ran into fuel starvation problems. My next event is not until the end of the year so I'm not in that big of a hurry. But I know a few people that run several events a year I will let them know yall are looking for people to test these out. Also I maybe TT by this time next year so I may hold off on getting one.

Nismo221: No rush at all! After the first batch is complete they will be readily available for years to come! Just look us up when the time is coming near.

Nice! I can't wait to see what you guys release. I've got an idea of what it is, but not having to remove the fuel tank for installation is awesome.

Man I hope this works. Would be interested but couldn't come up with the $700 anytime soon so I will refrain from adding myself to the list.

$700 to $1100. No pun intended I'd rather invest that money into a fuel cell. I'm happy that you don't all this work for us and the community but over the last several months and the direction I plan to go a fuel cell is really up my alley for several reasons.

$700-$1000 sounds about right for fuel starvation fix. It's not cheap, but not sure what else you want given the new parts you have to design.

It definiately works, Performance Motorsports has run the car to pretty much an empty tank now and the car doesnt stutter. They actually abandoned their plans to use a fuel cell in their race car because of it, and have sent us a brand new stock tank to do some balance modifications to so they can keep using the surge can.

Basically they want us to add the proper baffles and what not to keep the fuel level more balanced side to side. The surge cans overflow and recovery system we integrated is actually working so well that when the tank is "half full", all the gasoline is kept on the passenger side to keep the stock pump wet, and they dont like how the balance of the car changes as the tank level goes down. So we are going to attempt and keep the fuel level more equal on both sides of the tank.

I understand that $700+ is not cheap for a modification... its absolutely not. If the volume was there, I could injection mold these (in-house, this business is just a small project of a large injection molding company) and they would be a fraction of the cost. But the quantities will not demand the investment in the molds.

As for a fuel cell... I can probably talk you out of that.

Once the first batch is out, it shouldnt take too long to get the FI model out. I will be making one in the first batch to test in my own car, and it will not take long to get results. I just have to check on the balance of some things to see if its deviating from the tested model. I think that 2 weeks of testing should suffice since its not a new item from scratch at that point.

The shop I've been talking to makes a good point on fuel cells: "You [rarely] see a fuel fire from stock fuel system."
