I haven't tried it yet, way too hard on all the parts, maybe when she gets a little older.
Kind of funny how drifting is so popular now. Auto, performance and tire manufacturers have spent the last 50+ years trying to get cars to stick and not drift for racing, and now we've just went and messed things up ![]()

I have gotten the Z to drift several times and I love how progressive the chassis handles the throttle modulation. I mean I can get the car to step out just a weee bit or I can make it take a Godzilla step out around corners scaring lil women and children along the way

![]() If you can't smell your own tires, you're not trying hard enough. The Z easily breaks the rear end loose with VDC off at any reasonable gearing and speed. |

Any rubber you can get for it! For drifting, buying nice tires is WAYY TO expensive, you'll burn through a brand new set for the rear in a few runs, just grab a set of any old tire and just go out there an have fun. When you get more competitive and have more aggressive modifications thats when you start looking into sticky tires. The cars in Formula Drift run their tire sponsors top of the line Street tire, Toyo R1R, Hankook Ventus RS-3, Falken Azenis RT-615, Nitto NT03 or 1 i dont remember, Cooper Zeon RS3.

My last car was a G35 and comparatively the 370Z is harder to get the rear end to come around. Of course it can be done but you need to really draw on a lot of power.
But IMHO this is a good thing. The 370Z is so much more balanced; so much more confidence inspiring. It's nice to know that you can really get on the throttle exiting a corner and the car almost magically pivots. Probably not the best for drifting but certainly better for road racing (on a track of course...). And this car is much faster than my old G35. |

That's the plan, I'm not keeping the stock tires on the car anyways. I am keeping my stock wheels (as opposed to selling them) though. I just have this thing about keeping a pile of all my OE pulloffs in the garage in case I ever want to put my car(s) back into stock config. I never end up using them, but I guess I'm just neurotic like that.

Ok i feel like an idiot but what the heck is vdc? i know that its a button on the left but i never tried turning it off? is the vdc like a traction control? i feel like a total idiot asking this....

Vehicle Dynamic Control. It's a superset of ABS. The inputs to the system are the individual rotating speeds of your 4 wheels (from the ABS sensors), the angle of your steering wheel, the throttle position, and a G-force meter that helps it determine what attitude the car's body is at relative to the line it is physically moving in (as in, are you sliding sideways?). The VDC function uses these inputs to attempt to maximize your traction. When it senses a loss of traction at any or all wheels, it has the option of independently applying the brakes for you at any of the 4 wheels, as well as electronically limiting the engine's power if it thinks the cause is too much throttle input. The goal is that when you do dumb things that cause you to lose control of the car, VDC tries to re-establish traction to give control back to you, usually at the expense of vehicle speed one way or another.
