That may be true but you also have to look at how much track time I have. This past weekend would only make it 3 times that I have ever been to the track to your many passes at CPD. Hopefully next weekend stays clear and sunny so that way I can crush your times into the ground but I don't think I'll get your trap speed.

chuckd05 09-25-2011 11:45 AM

Too bad I Couldn't run this camara. Get me ur address Ryan to I can mall
The rest. Sorry!

V8Killer 09-26-2011 06:57 AM

Address for the ring?

jtown82 09-28-2011 03:34 PM

Cammed ls1's are no joke. depending on the cam and supporting mods they can be anywhere from mid 12's to a high 11s. around 112-117ish mph.

ihatepotholes 09-29-2011 01:35 AM

only fanboy like Methodical4u would believe stock Z can be as fast as a LS1 camaro, or na z has a chance against a LS1 with cams and bolt-ons...

it's not what our cars are for.

V8Killer 09-29-2011 08:33 AM

Did you even read the whole thread? I'll see what I can do this Friday at the track.

no, but i've raced against plenty of LS1 vettes and camaros to know that they are marginally faster. there are plenty of them with bolt ons trapping over 110 here at Etown. a cammed ls1 camaro will **** on a NA z.

from a fellow z owner to another, best of luck.

chuckd05 09-30-2011 11:13 PM

I beat a few lax engined cars like gto ws6 with my geared bolt on car.

V8killer is gears and seat time away from a 12.6. ESP with this m et steets I sold him.

I think you just need practice. Last ring and switch for brake light fuse going out tomorrow. Sorry bro

No, I actually didn't read the whole thread... hard to believe that with an exhaust an a cam it would pull that much hp though. If his friend's car is 200 lbs more and he himself is a rather large 400 lbs though even with the 40 or 50 hp he may have on him may not be enough to overcome that amount of extra weight. I would say it would be a rather close race. Was his friends a MT or AT?

I love reading posts like this :-p

My 2000 Camaro with intake, exhaust and cam, put over 400 to the wheels. And it was a BABY cam.

Why bother with a story about killing cars similar to OP's Z in my F-body? I have not read the other 8 pages and I already know the race either never happened or the 370Z got FI or the 370Z got raped. Let me read and see which one of the above, lol.

ETA:
Well, they never raced, but the SS trapped over 10mph faster and was a second quicker, lol

I have always appreciated the LS1s. My first performance car was one of the 260hp 4.6L V8 Mustangs... I had that thing geared to hell (4.10s) with full bolt ons; I could hang with you LS1 guys through the first couple of gears but by the time you'd hit 3rd it was over. Nothing was more intimidating for me than seeing an SS or WS6 in my rear view mirror. When I got my Z i'd still get a chill when I saw one... and even with the 5.0 I just assume that any LS1 left on the road is probably modded to hell. :bowrofl:

Thanks! :bowrofl:
Wish I had mine when the new 5.0's came out.

I'm a fanboy? I've owned 2 Evo's ... 1 of which would have stomped either of the cars in this thread son... don't speak until you know what you're talking about. Maybe you like to hang on the :nutswinger: of LS1 drivers... that's your thing. A straight line is fine until we come up on a few turns too. Like I said before... why don't they do a 1/4 and then a road track and see how things pan out?

Oh and by the way... we have no cams... we haven't even cracked the VVEL and are running low 12's with minimal mods and you're actually comparing this to a V8? Not to mention a V8 that EVERYONE and they Mother has... the Z is a better looking, better quality and overall better car than many of those domestic POS cars.

m4a1mustang 10-10-2011 08:28 PM

Low 12s on minimal mods... I wouldn't say that. Jnaut had a bit more than "minimal."

Oh, and the Z does have cams. ;)

Srsly.

Sorry dude, nobody in this thread can talk **** on LSXs. It's seriously one of the best motors of all time, and that's just the truth.

I'm not so much trying to talk down the car... i'm talking to a person who calls me a fanboy.

The Z has cams? What cams?

VVEL controls the intake valves and conventional cams control the exhaust valves.

They have cams - the exhaust cam, like M4A1 said, is a typical cam. The intake cam is obviously far more sophisticated...but could potentially still be changed out...

You said the Z has cams... what I took was that it has aftermarket cams which none that I know of are out for it as of now.

That was my point that jnaut couldn't have had cams on his 12.24 run since there are none in existance for the Z and VVEL has not been cracked. Perhaps I am misunderstanding your points.

m4a1mustang 10-11-2011 02:24 PM

I think there was a little bit of confusion on both parts. I thought you were implying that the stock 370Z in general does not have any cams and that VVEL controlled everything. :)

no, i'm saying that now you can get cams for most motors and they do add quite a bit of power.

The Z however does not have them out yet. The current Camaro we are comparing the Z to does have it, which helps with the power... and that for a V6 vs. a V8 with mods done that being able to beat a Z isn't really saying that much considering that all we have basically is all air mods, yet we aren't even talking this car running more than 3-4 tenths faster with equal drivers... and some may argue the Z could still win. A track is based more on conditions, driver, etc etc than on what it could actually do on paper... which is the reason we race.

I myself am not a big fan of 1/4 racing. It's nice to see what a car will do with certain mods... etc... but I just use that as a gauge. I would much rather use the Z for what it was intended for. Much like the 2 Evo's I owned Prior to this car and so many people could run good 1/4 times, but the car wasn't made for that. It's fun sure, but for me personally, doing some road racing would be much more fun.

What a bunch of bs. Everyone here knows you talk outta you ***. Take your ricer math else where. You think you are the only person who has owned an evo? Go read my posts on evom or my350z. Im done wasting my time on a keyboard warrior like you.

V8Killer 10-18-2011 12:32 PM

Man my thread has gone crazy!! LOL. Just an update I am back overseas and we didn't get to line up with the way the weather was being at the track. The problem I had at home was wheel hop then I threw on the drs which did help some but not a whole lot. My best trap speed was 107.8 and best time was a 13.2 by my buddy so I will have to do some suspension mods to see if it will help. I do have the differential bushings but didn't get a chance to put them on before I left. Maybe in the months to come while I am gone they will crack the vvel and we can see some better times at the track for our Zs.

i'm an idiot ricer because I put numbers out there? Don't ask about gear ratios then... that's ricer math ;) I'm sorry if you are mad though... can we be friends now?

what do numbers mean in a race?

asking about gears is ricer math? im not sitting here talking about what this mod or that mod adding X amount of whp to a certain car. you claimed that i don't know anything, but judging by your posts you are nothing but a ricer and a bench racer. what's your username on evom? maybe i should check out your insanely fast evos.

yea sure, we can be friends ;)
