My prediction
Quote:
After listening to the camaro, & watching him drive & excelerate, & reading how you're not sure of yourself/needing practice driving, my prediction(sorry)is, he'll beat you by 5/6 car lenghts. :stirthepot: sorry..... |
:) I have NOTHING for it on a road course. lol Thanks Andre.

A little editing was called for. |
LOL ya I guess it's a win but I really do miss my car very much. I can't wait to hear how it sounds in person. I think the 1st time I go to the track is gonna be bad anyway with the limited time of getting used to my car but the following week will hold better times.
|
:ughdance: You'll get there bud. :driving:
|
It's unfortunate that an NA 370 isn't really a 1/4 mile car... but people have managed pretty good times for us to be talking about a V6 vs. a V8 both cars with mods. Stock for stock the Z wins with any sort of decent driver though.. which to me is more impressive.

True story, Ryan has the vids but he needs to post them! I had to screw with ya buddy :rofl2: |
They are upside down and we can't figure out why it wont load remember?

The 1/4 specs are approximately 13.7... most people would don't drive all that great can muster a 13.7 with a Z and then we have the few with high 12 and low 13 second passes... you also have to factor in the weight of each with the Z being about 150-200 lbs lighter or so I guess? |
The ls1 is rated 325 but usually puts that down to the tires. My friend's stock 02 ss went 12.6 @109 stock to the paper air filter. My SS went 12.9 @109 (2.1 60') and the op's 370 went 13.6 @105. I'm not dogging the VQ by any means (this is your site after all) I'm just speaking from my experience. Stay tuned guys; race is in 2 days and his 370 got tuned this morning.

Kinda quiet in here ... guess he's in the sack. :inoutroflpuke:

Hey guys just an update. I am home and all the mods to my car respond very well and she rips. Issue is when my buddies took the car out the best they can do is 305 after the tune. I don't have the dyno sheet in front of me at the moment. The race is tomorrow though. My buddies talked to the speed shop and they said every time they tried to change the timing the computer would change it back. I am assuming that has to do with cracking the VVEL.

no one has cracked the VVEL yet as far as I know... are they experienced with Z's?
|
Ya they have done a few Z's already and they said that this is the norm. for our car b/c of the timing issue. I mean she rips down low I haven't gotten on her too much yet tomorrow will be the final test when I take her to the track. As soon as I found out who/where the dyno sheet I'll post it up. From what I have seen on the site though, our car isn't very good on numbers but still produces on the track so I am shooting for a 12.7

Are you all doing several runs against each other or just a little warming up and then just a single race? |

I would fully agree with this although 12.6 seems a bit optimistic. The Camaro and TransAm where severly under-rated from factory. It's actually accepted that these cars came with 350hp or more at the crank with the factory. As quoted I've seen stock LS1's put down 310-320hp AT THE WHEELS. Most I've seen at the track run 13.3-13.5 in stockish form (at this age of car tires and wheels are changed on most of them). In my experience the LS1 is quite capable of hanging with if not beating a Z, but it will come down to the driver and track. The better the track prep and better the driver the better the LS1 will do. From a roll I would say it's even to about 100mph and after that the Z starts to walk away slowly; I won't say how I know this though. Also the LS1 I had most experience with was an automatic; I'm sure a 6-speed would do better. |
so did we have a race or what??
|
Hey guys!! Okay no vids b/c I forgot my camera, not to mention we didn't even get to go against each other. It was a horrible day at the track for everyone that went, the track just wasn't prepped properly. The best I could do in my car was a 13.9 which obviously is bad b/c I beat that stock. I let my buddy Jamie drive and the best he could get was 13.6 at 102. Josh's car ran a 13.2 and when Jamie drove it she went 12.9 at 113 I believe. So ya last night was def. a bust guys sorry to build it up but nobody at the track was doing anything impressive. Not to mention we got rained out 2 hours into the track while I was in the staging lane going for another pass. So hopefully while I am home we can get this going again. Thanks for checking in.
|
Yep neither did what they were supposed to do, the camaro is faster though. Ryan will just hace to get some seat time in the Z I think itll run high 12s. I got a 13.6 out of the z @ 102 but track prep was horrible and it had a 2.3 60 foot. I got one pass in the SS and it ran a 12.9@114 2.25 60' but I left the t/c on DOH! All in all we gad a good time and the z will be out next week with d/r's
|
I love my 114 trapping car! Good time Ryan! You'll get it faster with seat time.
|
Nice trap, DTH.
|
Thanks! That's going through the traps in 3rd. I shift at 6200rpm but my limiter is set at 6900 so it's just a matter of staying in third. I hope it goes 116 with better air.

I have always appreciated the LS1s. My first performance car was one of the 260hp 4.6L V8 Mustangs... I had that thing geared to hell (4.10s) with full bolt ons; I could hang with you LS1 guys through the first couple of gears but by the time you'd hit 3rd it was over. Nothing was more intimidating for me than seeing an SS or WS6 in my rear view mirror. When I got my Z i'd still get a chill when I saw one... and even with the 5.0 I just assume that any LS1 left on the road is probably modded to hell. :bowrofl: |

I was pretty close, no?:) |

I believe the OP wants a rematch.

Josh how is it a rematch when we didn't even run? LOL
|
Want to make a collage of timeslips? lol
|
Ya we could just make sure you take out the ones Jamie did and that will be cool.
