Alright guys, I am just bumping my thread to give you guys an update. I will be home and going to the track in 9days this even will be going down. I bought some DR's from from chuck here on the forum and they should be at my house before we go to the track. I found out that my buddies car dynoed 373whp. I am hoping for 330 but we will see. Stay tuned and I will post videos and slips for results once I get back that night from the track.

Congrats on going home! The DR's plus the weight advantage should do a lot to make up for his extra power. Can't wait to see the video, and  for going to the track.

Ya hopefully it works out in my favor, he hasn't tracked his car yet b/c he wants to wait till I get home to see what it does.

Are you gonna have a chance to do some practice runs? Your car is gonna be very different. We're all rooting for you. Have a safe trip home.

I am just going to have most of the day on Friday till about 5pm so I'll have to go on some back roads. That is about as much practice I can get before I head to the track. Thanks for the vote of confidence

agree there! 380-400 whp is REALLLYYYYY stretching it on the power. I don't think with just an exhaust and a cam he is pushing that much AT ALL! He doesn't have any other mods besides that? IMO that's just not going to get a 2000 Camaro to that hp level.

Methodical4u 09-08-2011 08:42 PM

Dont know if this has been covered, but obviously pull the spare and any other small weight advantages you can get. The RE-11's are a great tire... not sure for drag how good they are though.

Methodical4u 09-08-2011 08:46 PM

oh yeah, if you're looking for every small bit of power, you could always run 0-30 oil as well. I do.... won't add a great deal of power, but every little bit helps right?

No, I actually didn't read the whole thread... hard to believe that with an exhaust an a cam it would pull that much hp though. If his friend's car is 200 lbs more and he himself is a rather large 400 lbs though even with the 40 or 50 hp he may have on him may not be enough to overcome that amount of extra weight. I would say it would be a rather close race. Was his friends a MT or AT?

In for results, this should be most interesting. :)

Well I will be making street tire runs and dr runs. I will pull the spare and tools that is 40lbs on top of all the weight reduction from the mods so about 100 lbs which for rule of thumb is good for 10whp being used.

I won't got that far I just had the 5w30 redline put in so I will stick with that, thanks for the advice though.

His Camaro is a 6speed. Hopefully with all the factors of weight and my bolt on's it should be a pretty close race, honestly I think with me getting off the plane and going to the track the 1st day I actually drive my car he has the advantage. I don't expect to pull him that 1st weekend home but I hope the 2nd week I am home I will get it done if I didn't do it the first time.

Methodical4u 09-09-2011 12:55 AM

It's an interesting match-up... even if he wins ... take some pride that you can say "let's go take some turns" hehe.

Z eliminator 09-09-2011 06:50 AM

How much rear wheel hp do you have.
run the DR's at 25 psig. and if you have track problems go down to 23.
Take out your front pasenger seat will ave you 51 lbs.
drain your winshield wiper bottle.

It's actually pretty common to make those numbers based on just those mods. Those engines are beast.
