Maybe the mods can clean this up and keep it and make it a STICKY thread!

tranceformer 05-18-2011 04:07 PM

Damn this thread blew up quicker than I expected!

Yeah Alberto could have been a bit more tactful but I think he's got a valid point. It takes seat time to put down some good times, auto or manual. I've seen it happen just about every time I go to the track. Usually I'll met another Z owner whenever I go. Just about every time I see them run 14's then give up and never come back. Practice makes perfect. I like to think I've graduated from rookie status but I've still got some learning to do (read: shift faster!).

So with that said, I'm packing up my stuff and heading to the track tonight! I can't let jnaut be the only Z at the track tonight! It's a bit warm this time of year here in south Florida, but I'm shooting for another 12.9x run tonight.

We got a few other Z drivers coming out to watch the mayhem, hopefully someone will video tape jnaut make a few passes in RCZ's car.

So can we cut the bullsh!t and start posting some time slips???

b1adesofcha0s 05-18-2011 04:13 PM

Good luck to everyone who's running tonight! Videos would be awesome

A VIS carbon fiber hood with vents would look nice on your white z!

I guy up here has a stillen SC on a G37 coupe 6 MT and he broke his back axile launching at 1800 rpm with toyo 888 on the car.
His best pass was a 13.3 !!!!!!
I felt bad for him.
you guys will just have to wait till i get the GTM stage 2 on my car for 11 second passes.

If i had RCY stillen SC in my car with my current set up it would go easy 11.5's the 4.08 gears and the rev matching on my 7 AT would keep it in the power band of the stillen.
his set up make great RWHP.
Its been raining here for 6 days staight and it going to rain all weekend including monday going to the track does not look good.

J nauat i hope that you go faster tonight. Goods luck, did you get my email on the my car with the data logging.

Ugh, terrible night at the track. One of my worst nights in a while.

First run ----- 13.5 @ 106 mph, 2.1 60ft. - didn't get on the throttle quick enough, wheeeeeeelhop

Second run-- 13.6 @ 106 mph, 2.3 60 ft. - tried to stomp the gas pedal sooner/harder, spun pretty badly at the launch

adjusted the tire pressure from 25 psi to 22 psi to help the car hook up better and then they cleaned up the track a bit too.

Third run ---- 13.5 @ 105 mph, 2.2 60ft. - BOGGED at the launch

so now the car is actually getting traction, decided to launch from 4400 rpm instead of the usual 4000 rpm.

Fourth run --- 13.6 @ 105 mph 2.2 60ft. - bogged slightly less, I think I didn't get on the throttle hard enough when the tires gripped / the rear squatted

Fifth run ---- 13.6 @ 104 mph 2.1 60 ft. - tried to launch a little harder this time with marginal result, lost 1 mph cuz I hotlapped.

Lined up for the final run of the night and then some car broke down. Said f*ck it and left... drove home a bit disappointed. :shakes head:

For those who care, the DA's were about 1700ft on average for the night. ~82 degrees on avg.

For those that are curious about what usually I do for each run:
Typical night for each run about 25 psi on the rears, inflate the fronts to 40 or 50 psi if i have time. The I'll flip the switch on the dash (wired to the brake light fuse) then do a quickie burnout to warm up the tires. Line up and rev up to 4,000 rpm, let out the clutch quickly and mash the gas pedal. Lift on every shift. Then I'll try to let the car cool off minimum 30 minutes between each run, 45 to 60 mins if the motor gets really hot (180+ degrees). And of course adjust from run to run to make things work.

Don't feel so bad Ray, Jay mentioned the track was terrible tonight.

For those who were curious. The fastest time for my car was a 12.2@116. However, that was with lots of wheel spin in second gear. The second run was a 12.4@121MPH.

Unfortunately the car isnt prepared for drag racing, but that 121MPH trap is good for mid 11's with better traction off the line. I'll let Jay add his thoughts, since I wasnt there!

I watched that 12.2 run from the pit lanes. Jay managed a 2.01 60ft but spun shifting into 2nd gear. I bet it would have been a high 11 pass if it weren't for that. Otherwise a solid run.

Nismo221 05-18-2011 11:08 PM

I wish i had a 1/4 mile track closer to me. All i have is a 1/8 mile track full of mustang owners that hate imports lol

First of all, I'd like to thank Ray for making the thread and keeping this clean list. If you like, you can move over some of the times from the other thread. Then maybe I can "sticky" this thread and delete the other one?

I'm sick and tired of seeing the manual vs. automatic debate on the forum. It seems like EVERYONE just get carried away with this debate. I'm at a stage where I'm going to close my eyes and start banning people (temp ban) anyone who tries to TROLL M6 vs. A7 topics. Just like oil cooler threads, I am done with this topic. Lets keep auto vs. manual debate out of the forum. In this modern age, it's simply a choice of transmission, nothing more.

Alberto MAY be best driver in the world but he still need to respect our forum rules and respect his colleagues here on the forum. I personally DO NOT care if he can out run Michael Schumacher but if he is going to be trolling on the forum, I have to take action. It doesn't take a scientist to figure out whether someone is trolling or no. I will NOT allow anyone troll on this forum. Anyone want to troll, he/she can go to other Z forums. They fit in perfectly there.

Congrats to all the drivers with their fantastic times. I know it'll only improve from here on.

Tranceformer and everyone with 6mt, Do you guys run with with VDC off or on? And at what rmp do u launch? I know sometimes it all depends on the track prep noble, Ok track suck big balls.

VDC OFF. But when you pull the brake light fuse the computer turns off VDC by default. I got tired of pulling the fuse all the time so I replaced the fuse with a switch. I usually launch around 4000 rpm, sometimes more but never less, atleast at this track.

RCZ who's front lip is on your car. I like it.
Nice times with a bad track. with your SC on my car i would run at least 11.5's or lower.

its amazing how a bad track and weather slow down N/A car's
The weather forcast up here has changed and it been raining for the last 6 days and its going to rain the entirer weekend into next wednesday. Unbelavable rain ,thunder storms and fog!.
Not a chance of getting to the track.

Mr&Mrs 05-19-2011 08:49 AM

RCZ said the fastest time his car ran was a 12.2, but his car is not 1/4 mile ready. It can do much better.

Here are my vids:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oGrF0gz7xE8
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4mtweXzOMkU

Car is not tuned, 7AT, HFC's, GtHaus CBE, found out all my CF is heavier then stock parts, and so are my wheels. First time at the track I was hoping for a 13.5xx with all those variables, and ended up running 13.3xx so I am pretty happy.

best run was a
13.34x 1/4
1.9xx 60'
Cant remember trap speed to lazy to get out of bed and go look at the slips lol.

thats fine, point taken...but even if he is is trolling, i knew him on the other boards to be a stand up guy, very knowledgeable, and willing to assist anyone. he is not the bad guy that perception in forming to be. Stillen front lip.

I guess by that token if we put my sc on jnauts car he would run an 11 flat?

jnaut 05-19-2011 07:13 PM

Yes, I could only muster a 12.2 @116 in Rauls car. Is car is very deceptively quick! The power is so linear .It was tough launching his car on the kw v3 , they are very stiff. I got 4 pass in it best trap speed @ 121 wow!! It is a heavier car with all option sport/touring/navi . Congrats Raul, what an awesome car you have put together!! So guess we are leading the forced inductions (by default) :)

If you would have had my 305 350 18 drag radials you would have gone easy 11.4 to 11.5 or better,. Your car had increadable top end speed.
Very nice times for a slick track and stock rubber.
I can not wait to get my SC
what gears ratio is in your car ?

yes his car is on good tires but still street tires. Its just his suspension is set up to go around corners, not give you weight transfer. As for the gears all stock rear end. With DR's you are correct i would have been all over the 11's!!

Updated forced induction for RCZ's car... I posted it as "RCZ" but with an asterisk since it was driven by jnaut.

Can anyone find that time slip of the twin turbo car that ran 11's? Until I find it, RCZ will hold the #1 spot. :icon17:
