Autocrossing the 370Z?

Anyone out there autoxing the 370 yet?

I ran my 350 extensively and am interested in a 370 but have not heard any input good or bad about them 370 yet.

There has been some info on the RX-8 Site but nothing here yet.

I feel that the Z is much better suited for the track than it is for auto-x. Maybe more people can weigh in on that?

Have you tried a trackday?

Actually, I think a lot of people think the 370z might be an excellent autocross car, depending on where they put it. If it goes into B stock it could be the best car to have. B stock is getting a major overhaul and could be combined with C stock. This means the current contenders are MS-R equipped miatas, RX8s and 350zs. The 350z would be the underdog, but the 370 has more horses is lighter and probabley handles better. I think most feel it will go into AS and compete against S2000s and C5 Vettes. It might be good enough to dominate that class too. We'll just have to wait and see I guess. I think the SCCA is going to class the car sometime this month though. Anyone know for sure when they will make a decision?

Yes it is all determined by where they class it.

I was just wondering if anyone had run one yet. My 03 Track ate front tires like they were going out of style.

I will still get a 370 but I doubt I will autocross it competitively if it still eats front tires. I was hoping that the improved suspension would solve a bit of the tire issues.

The RX-8 people keep saying that the 08 and older models "could be competitive". My opinion is they were saying that because they did not want BS to be a spec class and have their cars moved to another class where they would have competition.

The '03 350Zs had a tire feathering problem. There was even a recall on it where you got a free replacement set of tires if I remember correctly. They fixed it in the later years though.

Having owned both a 350Z and now a 370Z I can say that the 370Z will be leaps and bounds better than the 350Z was at autocross. The wider stance, shorter wheelbase, and revised suspension geometry & components make it handle quite well. I have not tried an autocross with it, but I am confident in my saying that it will be a potent contender in autocross.

My car never had the tire feathering problem... the fact that there is no camber adjustment up front made the car a tire eater...

This just in from the SCCA: 370 is B Stock! That means there is a very good chance it will be very competitive in that class, and it's a big class. Very good news for autocrossing the 370!

i'd love to track the Z especially with the rev match lol. actually probably would turn it off so i know wtf is going on, but yah the car seems like an awesome track car! event autox too

however, the car broke with me on my test drive though when i pushed it a tad around a corner, which was very scary. looks like the puppy needs some nitto's maybe.

i'll search this forum to see what's available in terms of sway bars, coilovers, struts..

Or you need to give the tires some time to shed the mold release agent before pushing them

Did you get understeer or oversteer? Do you mean the rear broke loose? Or the front pushed?
