Post RIP 5th gear synchro, you served me well.

So after at least 4500+ track miles and a total of 68k miles my 5th gear synchro finally gave out. Was a NJMP Thunderbolt yesterday for a track weekend when at the end of the 3rd or 4 session I could no longer get 5th or 6th gear. I was debating to keep going today since I only use 5th for a bout 10sec on the straightaway but I didn't was to stress the car more and go for the rest of the weekend when I could still get credit for a future event.

Anyway, now I am on the hunt for a '16+ transmission, I think those are made better then the earlier ones? What's the going rate for a used one with about the same milage or less, eBay seems to show around 1.6k. but alot of dealer websites show around 1.9k new?

Maybe I'm searching something wrong? I can't find ones less then 1.1k and their '09 or almost 100k miles.

I may be in the same boat looking for a transmission after a recent track day...…. good to know that the '16+ are built little better.

"boy...…...you f*cked her real good their buddah!"

Just get a new one. It is not worth taking a chance on a used one with who knows what is wrong with it.

Do you know why the 16+ is better?

No real evidence, just 'I heard'. Also, the new transmission is just as annoying to get into 5th as the old one when it was new. So I doubt now there is any difference.
