Fire suppression system???

This has to have been discussed by now, if not here else where. A system is not cheap, it's heavy, and idk if the systems are automatic or manual. If

Default Fire suppression system???

This has to have been discussed by now, if not here else where. A system is not cheap, it's heavy, and idk if the systems are automatic or manual. If I had to guess they are manual, accessible by the driver or an extra pull toggle by the passenger door. But what if you're knocked out? What if the cars burning also and they can't get to your toggle? At the end of this video you see fire suppression device under the hood. I was also thinking of installing 2 in the cab. Thoughts?

Dry-chem systems are very messy when they go off. I'd stick with CO2 or one of the Halon-like gasses. YMMV

Not wise to fit a fire-bomb that discharges into the cabin .... CO2 is not good for your continued ability to breathe.

In my race car, I'm required to have a 1kg powder bottle within reach when belted up, or a 2kg bottle with triggers in reach of the driver and another outside the bodywork - usually by a toggle-pull fitted at the base of the screen/A-pillar on the drivers-side.

An electrical isolator is also required in the same place.

This is all covered in our Confederation of Australian Motorsport regs - I'm sure that SCCA regs will provide advice as well - you should be able to find it on the web.

As I said, a fire-bomb will have 2 triggers, one in reach of the driver and the other outside.

At our race events, all marshal-points are manned and multiple first intervention vehicles stationed around the track so that in the event of an incident, an FIV can reach the incident in 20 seconds (we are required to use triple-layer suits that provide protection against flame for at least that long).

Track days do not typically offer this level of intervention support. In my Z, I have a 1kg hand-deld bottle in a (substantial) bracket at the base of the driver seat (bolted to the OEM front seat mounts).

I just installed one of these in the E46M3 and the 370z.
I don't skimp on safty gear.

Lifeline Zero 2000 systems are constructed using only the finest materials and are supplied complete with all of the components required for a professional installation. It performed supremely well in engine fire tests, and thus has the full acceptance of the MSA, FIA and SCCA.

Lifeline's range of FIA specification systems have been homologated by the FIA for use in International motorsport and has been awarded the homologation numbers EX.002.98 and EX.020.05. AFFF. It's basically soap. Cleans up if you do discharge it and won't suffocate you. 2.25 lbs will meet the minimum requirements of most US orgs (NASA, SCCA, AER, etc) but won't fully douse you and your V6, just give you a few extra seconds to escape. The 10lbs system is almost overkill.

More nozzles reduces pressure and will empty the bottle faster. Put one aimed towards your legs, one at any fuel cell plumbing, and two in the engine bay on either side. The nozzles have a very wide spray pattern. Make sure your cabin one is aimed down; you don't want it spraying in your face.
