Sure looks downhill in the video, the tracks over here are slightly uphill as they are ex-WW2 runways, they usually slope downhill in the shutdown so the opposite really.

They are great times for sure, just trying to understand why a stock car can pick up 25-26mph in the second half of the track when my car can only manage 20-22mph. But a google search (high trap speed captitol raceway ) found other drivers having high terminal speeds also

If you look at the drag times tables those terminal speeds are very high compared to everyone else , cant help thinking it must be environmental , or perhaps the air is just really good

Btw, I'm a complete amateur at 1/4 still, but I think my 60' are quite good and I was happy with my ET for 1st try. I found best way to launch my Z is to feather clutch at top and come on progressively on the gas. Launching from higher RPM or dumping clutch always made my car bog.

The stock sport rubber actually surprised me with grip ability, it hooked up well even when dumping clutch at 4k and would make the car bog.

I know my Z can run faster, considering I can now shift at 7700 and power maxes out between 7200-7500rpm. I shifted at 7500 for my last runs. So I really want to go again.

304whp/245tq and 3250lbs with 7700 redline should be able to get 12.5 fairly easy - that's my next goal for the track.

if you want 12.5 better get drag radials/slicks and go on the best weather you can find. also upgrade diff, flatten out suspension, etc...

I've seen people's stock time be their best times based on adding power but no other upgrades mostly with base model open diffs being a major killer.

my best is 12.89 @ 111 with a 1.95 60' on oem size Michelin PSS tires.

car was full weight (with all packages, nav, and bose) aside from exhaust weight savings and full tank of gas.

my redline is 7900 but I shift before that. our car stops making power around 7200 typically so no reason to go above it. plus at 8000 or more without a dry sump it'll damage the engine or maybe go boom.

it's all based on the DA (density altitude) and Maryland tracks are good places for good times/traps. well DA and track conditions, track prep, etc.. but the air/weather are big factors

capitol is only 40-45 ft above sea level so that track with good cool air will run good.

same with MIR in Maryland is only 80ft above and I know GT-R guys by me go down there to set PB's

Granted but if it was all DA then it would run just as good on the first 1/8th ?

I don't remember what the weather that day was to know if the DA was better or worse.

also now I really would need to tear down my car to clean everything engine wise to make sure i'm still flowing the same as I did at 20k miles when I made that run. I could only imagine my throttle bodies need cleaned badly at this point.

Thanks for all that info. I should easily hit 12.5 based on your info. I have no extra weight like yourself, just 3245lbs..

Also, my powerband maxes out over 300whp the entire way from 7200 to 7500. It was a really nice tune I got (thanks AAM) that pushed the entire powerband up. Stock, it did top out around 7k-7200k and dropped. I have no drop until 7500 now, Im sure this will make quite a difference.

I'll post my dyno sometime

Just looked at mine. Same here pretty much, looks to peak ~7300 on mine. But never falls off till after 7500.

So I see a clear reason to shift at 7700 now, that extra bit at top of each gear can account for a nice gain.
