Mainly because I had friends who had gone to them and had good experience. I believe they offer a lifetime warranty if you own the car. They are also very good about fixing problems. My driver side was peeling in the corner, they ripped the whole window off and applied new material, no problems since.

Nice! I'll give them a ring this weekend and compare prices. Thanks!

If you just have a chip as in paint chip, Baker Nissan has a guy they can call who goes out there to fix road rashes and blemishes. Call Paul Morgan for that, he fixed JB's road rashed wheel right before a car show last year.

Thanks VDC. Ill check it out. I bought the car there.

Any specific person to look/ask for? Get some decent deals/discounts? Haha

Unexpectedfar 09-16-2012 12:09 AM

2 things.

1. Are we allowed to drive without front plates here in houston? I was driving around all day and saw a bunch of cars driving without front plates on and the cops never even paid attention to any of them. Just wondering.

2. Advertisement

maybe for the wife? or for the Mr.? or even for that SO? :p

ddot196 09-16-2012 11:07 AM

Texas law u are supposed to have a front plate.....But no one obeys it much. I will never put a front plate onto my front bumper. Refuse to ruin it. I hardly ever see cops writing tickets for no front plate unless u got a lot of other stuff going on lol.

tonythetiger 09-16-2012 11:58 AM

i got pulled over last yr at night, cop thought i didnt have a front license plate on bumper but when he came up he saw it on my dash and said it was fine. Another time i was around Katy and a state trooper gave me a warning to put my license on my front bumper, same thing happened in SA with a state trooper. Seems like city cops dont really care as much compared to state troopers.

Robert_K 09-16-2012 12:12 PM

IMO, its a BS law to give Law Enforcement officers (LEO) probable cause to stop vehicles to search/investigate for more serious offenses/crimes. In my experience most LEO will let you go with a verbal and/or written warning if you cooperate with them politely.

wstar 09-16-2012 02:24 PM

I ran without a front plate for 10 years on my Trans-Am, all over Houston and lots of TX roadtrips. I think I had one actual front plate ticket in that time, and it wasn't a big deal. Once or twice on other occasions the officer brought it up, but either didn't write it up or gave an official warning. I don't run a front plate on the Z either, no front-plate tickets for it yet in 3.5 years.

But they will use it as an excuse sometimes. If you're in a shady legal situation (e.g. outstanding warrants or some such ********), by all means put the front plate on :)

Unexpectedfar 09-16-2012 11:15 PM

Nothing shady.. Been a law abiding citizen ever since I stepped foot in this country. Guess I'll just put a plate on the hook buy it online so I don't have to drill any holes. Thanks for the heads up!!

theDreamer 09-17-2012 08:23 AM

No plate is required if you are cool. ;)
Honestly, HPD and the Sheriffs do not care, it is the small local towns around here that will mess with you. Jersey Village, Spring Valley, Hedwig Village, etc. are all notorious for going after people for the littlest things.

I have run without one for years, had the Stillen bracket for awhile but it just never 'looked' right on the Z. I was pulled over once for "speeding" and they wrote me up for no front plate, this was just south of Dallas in a small town. The no front plate was thrown out of court.

I bet it was in Ferris? I remember that being a horrible speed trap when I used to make the Dallas<->Houston run regularly many years ago.

Awesome, can't wait to see it. Looking to get some in October.

Unexpectedfar 09-22-2012 01:40 AM

I have a question, didnt want to start another thread so less clutter. Hopefully I can get some help from y'all.

I was driving the Z to work today and whenever I would release from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd gear I feel a "jerk" idk how else to explain it. However when I go from 3rd to 4th...5th..6th nothing just smooth transition. I was wondering if I just suck at MT since I havent driven one in 3 years or its something else.

A. Go to baker and get them to check it out.
B. give it a couple more drives and if problems persists go to baker.
C. Youre being overly sensitive like all new owners.

another thing would be I hear some rattling when im on 3rd gear and I give her gas, not like the regular noise but something that stands out.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Bad timing for me or we would go. Austin is only couple hours away.

VDC_OFF 09-24-2012 04:16 PM

I was going to go make a weekend out of it along with other things but as with me I usually dont know until last minute because things keep changing. Still undecided.

tonythetiger 09-25-2012 12:59 PM

anybody know how much it would cost to get a uprev tune with dyno??

SurfDog 09-25-2012 01:00 PM

600 bucks around here in Bay Area.

SurfDog 09-25-2012 01:03 PM

... But totally worth it. Do some research in the forum! you might want fan mod and theft protection map etc. there is air more than just dropping off and saying "tune her up". (If you know a little about what is possible).

Also ask around on the forum for recommendations for a good shop on your area. That makes a big difference.

I think JTran and one other UpRev tuner in Houston. Why not make the road trip to Austin and have UpRev do it themselves? Also, imo, make sure you're done performance mods as you'll want to tune last.

tonythetiger 09-25-2012 05:48 PM

cool thanks!, yeah im waiting on my FI exhaust and no more mods for the time being.

Hey y'all. Just got done posting in the intro section and figured I'd pop in here and say hello. Just picked up a white '10 370Z here in Houston. Do y'all do any meets/rides around town often?
