Any recommendations for a good place to eat? Nothing super fancy, but something different that I wouldn't find in San Antonio...

I'm gonna hit up the Texans game on Sat. I'll be staying near the Galleria, but I'm open to anywhere. I haven't been to Houston for about 8 years so I just want a relaxing mini getaway trip

To eat in that area Id recommend BBQ: Goode Comapny BarBQ on Kirby, Greek: Niko Niko's on Montrose, Mexican: 100% Taquito on Edloe, Tai: Tai Cottage on Weslayan, Chinese: Qin Dynasty on Buffalo Speedway, Pho: Les Givral on Washington

Also there is a drift event all day Sunday at Gulf Greyhound Park. Stop by if you have time!

I won't give u Mexican recommendations because u have plenty of that in sa. For a decent burger try pappas burger, its right in the galleria area. There is an affordable sushi joint that has pretty decent cuts called oishi , its at Richmond and timmons. for Asian ur best bet is to make a small drive to the bellaire and the beltway area. One of my personal favorites is house of bowls, its at corporate and bellaire. I'll give u one more, the raven grill on bissonet in the west u area is a nice little spot.
Wish I was gonna be in town and we would set up a meet but i'm headed out of town this weekend. Hope to catch u next time and I'll see u at the twisted sisters run.

There is also a drift class that will be taught by Chelsea Denofa on Saturday from 12-5 at Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Texas City 2440 Gulf Freeway
Texas City, TX 77591. This will give you a basic understanding of techniques and experiences from the pros. Its free but you have to RSVP now to let Aaron know you are coming. Details here. Lone Star Drift Round 3 at Gulf Greyhound Park. 8/19/2012 - Houston240sx.com Forums

With this car it doesnt take much.. so that also means more spinning out if you dont have super grippy tires on :icon14:

Rain chance for Sunday as of today 60% (scattered storms). The good thing is the temperature shows a high of 86, for people being outside all day that's a good thing. So might be good weather with just a quick shower to cool off with

wstar 08-17-2012 11:55 AM

Everyone's a drift king in the rain, you can even bring your family car out and drift.

Seriously though, I bet the rate of slamming the rear end into a light pole on the practice course goes way up if it's wet. Should be fun to watch :)

If thats directed at me, I will be staying far away from poles... Even though in this video from the last time at GGP I got pretty close :ugh2:
Mikey's 370 at Lonestar Drift - YouTube

But during the competition, there are sometimes some sidebumps as they try to get as close as they can to each other. I have witnessed a few t-bones before, not pretty but still no one gets hurt!

wstar 08-17-2012 05:57 PM

Not directed at you, no Z's are allowed to be harmed in the making of Sunday's film :P

dansracing 08-22-2012 07:12 AM

Curious if anyone would be interested in a cruise/fun run to Corpus Christi end of January '13? Pretty much a large "VQ" cruise?

any good/reputable place in Houston to check out in dash nav?!

Robert_K 09-09-2012 05:21 AM

I prefer Car Toys. Defiantly can get them installed cheaper though. Jenny71 has a very nice audio set-up in her Nismo. Maybe she can recommend her installer.
