Any Texas headlight modification locations?

I was wondering if you guys know of any locations in Texas that will modify our headlights. I wanna paint mine and get the led landing strip on em. Thanks guys. :tiphat:

shizzl3s 02-22-2012 10:39 PM

Bump! I'd like to know as well. Just picked up a 370z a few months back and I would love to get my headlights blackhoused. I'm not confident enough to do it on my own, so I would like to know if there's a reputable shop around Houston that can do it. Thanks!

ccdominic 02-23-2012 12:35 AM

Congrats on the new ride fellow Texan! :tiphat:

CoolKid092 02-23-2012 12:43 AM

ccdominic 02-23-2012 12:52 AM

Lets find this place! If not, sounds like a good way to make some money lol. Three people already

O&G 02-23-2012 02:20 AM

I know Ron has done it, I'm looking to do it as well. Did it on my Tundra but iffy on the Z.

Robert_K 02-23-2012 03:31 AM

I'm sending mine to LightWerkz in NJ. Rather not gamble on them.

Ron 02-23-2012 12:25 PM

I would offer to do them but I don't really wanna take the responsibility of breaking something. As soon as I can find some time I'll help O&G with his.

Dallaz 02-23-2012 01:07 PM

I'm planning on doing mine. Flushnismo painted his himself using paint match spray cans from automotivetouchup.com

6 months later and they still look perfect with no condensation.
I'm probly going to go this route as well. There is also a local of the DFW area that has done his black with red shrouds on a black Z that I met at C&C and said would be willing to help if I/anyone ever wanted to do it.

Were are you other 3 that are interested in doing this mod located?

ccdominic 02-23-2012 09:31 PM

somebody in tx needs to start doing this and make some bank!

Flushnismo 02-23-2012 09:34 PM

I was able to do it myself and it honestly isn't that hard, just very time consuming. I wish I could have had somebody else to help though.

VDC_OFF 02-24-2012 09:50 AM

Ive been considering doing this myself but I kinda like the way they look stock so Im on the fence. Plus if everyone else is doing it then it wont be so different anymore. Idk, if I do end up doing it I can help those in the Houston area. I also have a paint gun and compressor if needed.

Just curious, there was a girl on the H240sx forum named Gixxer, was that you too?

Gixxer-370Z 02-24-2012 09:55 AM

That would be awesome. If you do decide to help out, I'd be willing to pay. Painting really isn't the issue. It's the disassembling and reassembling of the headlights that worry me.

VDC_OFF 02-24-2012 10:33 AM

I think I am going to go for it as soon as I get some time. I saw that someone had made the orange reflector piece carbon fiber and thats what I want to do so Ill be taking mine apart just to do that accent :D. Need to do more research first, Ill post on here when I do it.

ccdominic 02-24-2012 10:34 AM

well they always say painting is the cake part. its the prep work that matters.

no prep work needed if you use krylon paint for plastic. I just cleaned mine with alcohol and then sprayed 4-5 coats waitin 20min in between. 10mos now, not one issue.

any way you could post a DIY if you do O&G's headlights?

Ron 02-24-2012 11:24 AM

There is a DIY already, I added my pics there.

Ron 02-24-2012 11:24 AM

Dallaz 02-24-2012 11:30 AM

It seems like I'm the oddball out as far as location goes. I think taking your time and letting the paint settle along with taking your time reassembling all of it is key, tearing it apart should be no problem, and the materials are cheap.

I think it's "Kyrylon Fusion" specifically which is what I used on my handles, emblems, and side blinkers. Hey Ron did you add any extra adhesive when reassembling or just use the existing glue? That is one of my biggest questions and if so what exactly did you use?

Ron 02-24-2012 12:47 PM

yep, that's the paint. No extra adhesive, it had plenty in there to seal them back up.
