Alright perfect. Thanks. I might just go grab some Gloss black Krylon fusion for the main housing and order some paint matched Monterey blue from automotive touch up for the bezels and call it a day. Can't wait to actually get started but I'm always real lazy about doing this kind of stuff. I've had my Evo-r diffuser for about a month now and still haven't put it on yet lol.

Looks GREAT! My only concern, as this is a worry with painted headlights also, is the wrap bubbling.

VDC_OFF 04-11-2012 12:04 PM

I did notice a small bubble on the very bottom corner after putting it back in the oven to reseal it. Not sure its big enough for me to take apart again, I can live with it. Next one I will make sure to press hard on all the wrap before I reseal it because I didnt do that on this one. The 3m instructions do say to do that because that is what bonds it.

I dont think the painted parts will have a problem as long as you get the paint meant for plastic.

Btw, you can find details in my build thread of how I did this.

Good deal. Maybe put a couple pinholes in the wrap to help air escape? As you know I had my headlights done and was informed that due to the intense heat the HIDs give off that the paint may bubble. I think it's just one of those things we roll the dice on.

FYI: I am a bit jealous of the CF wrapped headlights. I never thought of that. Good job!

CoolKid092 04-11-2012 12:22 PM

man what degrees and how long did you put it on the oven thats the main thing that scares me.. and prying lol

I also think it did that was because that was a spot I had the most trouble with and kept resticking it to get it perfect so it may have lost adhesive. Thanks!

and CoolKid, 250 degrees for 10 min is perfect. to pry it open just start from the top and VERY slowly pull it apart. A blow dryer will help loosen it more as you are opening it. Make sure you follow the DIY and take off bulbs and wires and stuff and use a damp towel on top of a cookie sheet when placing it in.

Looks great...ready to help out others eh? Wanna help me do mine one day lol? I know it's a PITA to do. BTW where did you buy the CF wrap anywhere local or 3M online? I don't want to do the whole thing with the wrap, maybe just the landing strip and paint the rest black.

VDC_OFF 04-12-2012 06:49 PM

Doing just the landing strip part is a piece of cake, I might have some extra leftover for that, we'll see. I bought a 60"x24" roll on amazon. I dont mind helping, but if my wife dont see some money, she wont release her honey lol. Seriously though, she owns me on the weekends since we both work during the week, so getting permission to work on someone elses car may not go so well, especially with the hours this takes. Just pm me if you are serious.

Ilovejdm07 04-15-2012 03:47 PM

Did these headlights for Bryan recently, I like how they came out. I painted them full silver to match the wheels better, no more chrome ;)

Im free this Saturday if anyone wants their headlights painted. Pm me.

neveucd 07-12-2012 05:09 PM

No takers? VDC is a beast at modding headlights, and beats having to ship them off somewhere :tiphat:

Illmatic370z 07-12-2012 07:23 PM

Man.. I may have to take a 300mile trip up to Houston and visit VDC.

VDC_OFF 07-12-2012 08:21 PM

I just got back from the valley man, lol. Went to South Padre for 4th of July ;)

Illmatic370z 07-12-2012 09:17 PM

Dang ! Wish I caught you while you were down here. I was there from the 30 to July 2 did you take your Z?

VDC_OFF 07-13-2012 10:01 AM

Nope took the family in the pathfinder, I had just missed you. Drove down on the third. I was born in McAllen and I go down there often. My dad lives in port isabel but I family all around there including McAllen and Mission. Next time might be around thanksgiving.

Illmatic370z 07-13-2012 10:29 AM

That's cool man that your from here. I was pretty close to moving to Sugarland area earlier this year but turned down the job opportunity. Well I guess I'll just wait til Thanksgiving to paint my headlights,or just make a trip to you when you have a weekend free? If you can let me know cost involved in this I'll be more than glad to pay!

FLYZ 08-08-2012 02:16 PM

I am an idiot and created a new thread about this. I am looking for someone to help me, too. I'd really like to do some LED work too (orb), but I can't ship it to 180 in NY, because this is my daily. Anyone who can help would be appreciated. I'm considering asking Baker about it, since I have to take my care in for some repair from a fender bender last week.

CoolKid092 09-18-2012 10:07 PM
