I'd definitely like to be in the know of anything too. I just moved to Austin from New Orleans last month.

If Melody wants to join, we'll just head straight there after we're done watching the UT basketball game. Otherwise, I will drop her off at the house first and might be a few minutes late.

dnwarwas 03-22-2014 09:55 AM

My car is dirty as hell but I'll try to make it out. I don't have anything going on this weekend and I'm pretty bored!

JARblue 03-22-2014 09:55 AM

Unfortunately, I probably won't be driving the Z because we have to pick up a friend to go watch the game.

Pintsize725 03-22-2014 10:24 AM

No Z needed. :) Mine is too filthy but she'll be there.

Pintsize725 03-22-2014 06:31 PM

I'd better see some participation tonight.

RICAN 03-22-2014 07:24 PM

Will do. Got an appointment for an estimate this wednesday will see what it comes to. Really hoping they can fix by paintless repairs and not cutting and welding but kinda nervous what to expect with aluminum hood and roof vs typical steel.

2011_6Spd 04-02-2014 07:40 PM

So I got the estimate today at $2100. Damage can be fixed via PDR so that is a relief. They will have to remove the driver headlight, headliner, interior trunk panels and hatch panels and both taillights and then put it all back together again. Can't get her in until 18 Apr though but that is ok.

Going to be heading down to Austin next month with the family, looking at potention neighborhoods to live in if I transfer any sugestions? We were down last summer with my brother when he toured the campus for school but didnt get to see many neighborhoods. Only going to be there a few days then heading to SA to visit some family.

Anything west of I35 is usually a safe bet but there are some newer, nicer places on the east too. What are you looking for in a neighborhood?

I have been looking in the north/west and south areas, Round Rock/ Lago vista and then south west of Austin. Decent schools and good housing is what we are looking for lol.

We sold our house up here last October and have been looking in this area (south of Chicago about 75miles) for a house and we havent found anything we like around my job in about a 35mile area. Plus the outragous property tax of illinois along with high gas prices and income tax rates overpriced houses it seems like a no brainer to transfer and move to Texas Ha.

So any info would be great

Round Rock/Cedar Park/Leander is a solid area. Both school districts (RRISD & LISD) in those areas are quality. You can also find newer housing relatively inexpensive with lots of new growth in areas. Plus you're near the hill country for some good Z cruising :driving:

A former co-worker of mine is currently building a house out in Driftwood (more southeast of Austin - near Salt Lick BBQ :yum:) for those same reasons. I think it's Dripping Springs ISD, but I could be wrong.

No state income tax is always a good thing, too

One_Quick_Z 04-04-2014 01:58 PM

Thanks for the info! My family and I will be down there next month for some further exploring :)
