Although the same kind of issue happens in reality. Remember in 2010, the 7-9Seahawks won the NFC West while a couple of 10-6 NFC teams didn't get in.

Yeah but with raw scoring each week (albeit you might set your lineup slightly differently depending on who you are playing) rather than a head-to-head matchup it's very different.
