When Max exited turn 1 nearly collecting the wall, I had a feeling he was going to bin it. I didn’t think it was going to be the last corner though. The body language of his car going through the lap was super aggressive, at times looking like he’s over-driving the car. Hopefully the gearbox is ok.

thekinn 12-04-2021 01:31 PM

This circuit looks like it was all about the qualifying.. DVR to the rescue. Expecting another snoozer. (with Mercedes winning..)

Ventruck 12-04-2021 06:55 PM

It's really Lewis' championship to lose at this point.

Max really threw what he could at this. He can't really regret it.

God-Speed 12-04-2021 09:20 PM

Tomorrows race is going to be a wreck fest. The first turn is going to be a fun one. :ugh2:

Yes agree'd. He had been pushing the limits of the driveable track in practice as well narrow misses with the wall. The press are saying it was the lap of the century. No.

You get that when you make the full lap. That was the lap of the century in how not to overdrive a car. It finally told him no.

100%. No glory for putting it in a wall. Especially on an avoidable mistake.

Maybe the rules changed on what is now a "great lap"

Agree'd Max seems to have fans who think his shite doesnt stink. Bottom line - he gave away pole and nearly took himself out of the race. Nice effort yes. Special no. He crashed. Like many others.

Can he win today. Yes he can. I respect his ability but he is hardly the first driver to 'live on the edge'. Comes with the job. Thats fkn special??????

God-Speed 12-05-2021 12:23 PM

After 15 laps this race!

Max is gifted and utterly teenage idiocy all in one for year. He is also on Mediums now. He will need to stop again. Dont see how he wont. LH on hard compound.

abm89 12-05-2021 01:54 PM

Some piss-poor driving standards by Max today. I wouldn't have blamed Lewis if he punted him. Looking like a 90s Schumacher.

Spooler 12-05-2021 05:44 PM

What a chit show. At least they kinda did something with Max penalty wise. Lewis gave it back one time and they were on the radio warning the team with the quickness. WTH!!!!! A 2.5g braking with Lewis right behind him. Reminds me of a kid throwing a temper tantrum.

JARblue 12-06-2021 10:13 AM

Helluva race :rofl2:

Watched thru the 1st red flag before turning to football. Went back to watch the rest later and really enjoyed the shenanigans

At least it's winner take all for the last race. Max is a really good driver when he's not a complete idiot. In some other series back in the day I bet a number of this year's races would have ended with Lewis and Max fighting in the paddock lol

Or drivers in hospital. These idiots are taking safety for granted.

Max is gifted and forgets when things go his way (BRAZIL) then thinks ALL penalties are idiocy when they go against him. PATHETIC little troll.

Or dead :eekdance:

:iagree: Crashing at 180 mph and walking away definitely changes your perspective. And not necessarily for the better.

Probably very lucky that this track employed the SAFER barriers rather than the traditional ARMCO. Several of those crashes could have been too close to the Grosjean incident for my liking.

Looks like a spectacular track to drive, but doesn't make for a great race.

abm89 12-06-2021 02:09 PM

Yeah, the barrier design was top notch. Both Leclerc and Schumacher got away unscathed in their high speed accidents. The car didn't rebound into the track either.

It would make for an amazing time-attack event though.

Hotrodz 12-06-2021 04:32 PM

Well, stupid is as stupid does! Max keeps writing checks his azz can't cover. If you don't want to leave decision to the FIA then don't do chit to get them involved.

I can't believe how people are more interested in good hard racing with the understanding of the rules. Really, Max voted driver of the day?!?! How about Ocon, he did a great job and just missed out?!?! Well when it comes to public opinion, it just a popularity contest regardless of how badly one's favorite driver performs. Has Max matured? Yes, and it is obviously not enough. A total display of stereotypical millennial behavior. I want to be first daddy but Lewis won't let me. Tell him and the stewards that I am the champion and the best of all times! GTFO!!!

Technology and social media has made it far too easy for idiots to express their opinions :shakes head:

abm89 12-06-2021 05:03 PM

Please dont loop millenials into this, this is purely "rich privileged kid" problems. Plenty of our generation had to and are still working for our keep. Max? nah.

That is why I stated it as him being a stereotypical millennial. I have two kids that are millennial and they are not of the norm either. Why, because they were raised right. Max dealing with adversity has all to do with his privilege and not having any real trauma to work through that I know of. He is learning now that it takes more than tenacity, will and desire. It takes poise, calmness, focus and being centered. Knowing that you been there before and that as long as you minimize stupid and stupid doesn't happen your chances for success are high.

You need real support in your run to success. Lewis has Angela and she is freaking amazing. It may look like she is just his personal assistant but she is much, much more. She is his, trainer or physio as they call them, his confidante and mental coach. We all should be so lucky to have Angela to support us.

Hell, Lewis is also a Millennial as well and he makes our point. He not like many of his generation!!!

Verstappen is an idiot. Since he has the advantage in a tie breaker, I can see him taking Lewis and himself out in the final race, just to win the championship.

Hamilton will be ready for that.

I know the Max type people very well and you aren't one of them. I would not say it is a millennial thing either. He just has poor character.

I hope so.

abm89 12-06-2021 08:22 PM

On top of that, The last time that happened (1997 Michael attempted to take out Villeneuve), the aggressor was excluded from the championship. Precedent has been set.

If it happens and they let Max keep the championship, I wouldn't blame Lewis for giving F1 the finger and walking away altogether, along with his MASSIVE fanbase.

It would be interesting to see him in Indycar. He'd sell out every race by name alone.

cooltoy 12-06-2021 08:23 PM

True.

abm89 12-06-2021 08:33 PM

I will say this: I have never seen the whole Mercedes AMG team that amped after a race. Even Valterri was hyped for stealing that P3 and he's on his way out. Talk about having a whole team behind you!

That front wing is going to be on display at their HQ for sure.

Ventruck 12-06-2021 09:24 PM

It was a sloppy race and I think this falls on the FIA more than anyone else, because on a real track half this nonsense would've never occurred. Every overtake was going to be sketchy. We even saw that deliberately handing over a position can go wrong, although I won't discount the idea that Max was being a bit cheeky on where he chose to do that. Predictably second was the best he was going to get all weekend.

Max and Horner next weekend:

The story that no one is really focus on is the medium tire decision for Max by ShiteBull lol. He saw how he could not pull away from LH at all. 1.5 was about the max time delta and LH kept pressing.

Almost 10 laps before the end they died. Totally. The tires were not cut Max said they were gone and they were before any hand over was happening. LH kept fastest lap on the hards.

:hello:Sorry Max your team stuck you on the wrong tire. You feeling lucky.........punk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)

danegrey 12-07-2021 06:45 AM

Lots of good comments and discussion...
Max is todays Schumacher from the 90s, I even think watching the post race that damon hill actually mention it. It would be no surprised if he did take out Hamilton, but this has all been done before. Senna even stated it one time, to win the championship.

It will be an interesting tight fought last race.... :tiphat:

I was a bit shocked when I saw that. He is lucky he got second. If the red flag came a few laps sooner, we would be not be talking about a tie right now.

Tells me RedBull know their race pace was or is suspect vs Mercedes.
