Just for reference, we run the 34 row oil cooler that Z1 sells on the World Challenge car. We use it in conjunction with a larger integrated cooler in the radiator. The radiator, for those who don't know, is a CSF custom build that is half coolant, half oil cooling and is twice as thick as the stock unit (have to delete A/C condenser). It would be the equivalent of running two 34 rows is what it looks like. When working properly (we lost an oil line this past weekend, resulting in a spun a bearing), our oil temps stay well within tolerable limits in full race conditions. |
The oem cooler on the 12+ is a worthless piece of crap that just makes running bigger filters a pain. I have mine (and all the plumbing) in the garage if anyone wants it.
Go with a 25+ row cooler if you're going to bother with an aftermarket cooler at all. I'd recommend the 34 row. You can always block off a portion if needed. In the winter I run a block off plate to avoid overcooling. Z1 and FI are the only two options I would realistically consider if I were purchasing today. Just make sure you get one with a thermostatic sandwich plate. |
I too am a little concerned about this oil cooling issue. I dont autox or track like I used to but I do want to run the dragon from time to time with the Z and am worried that it will get overheated based on what I have read doing that. I drive the dragon pretty hard.
|
I picked up a 25 row for the GF's car. on the dragon and 28 it was still topping 220 to 240.
Normal driving shes at 180 now thanks to the thermostatic plate. My Old Z had a 34 row and that one worked great even on the track. I used a z1 cooler on my old 370z and a z1 cooler on the GF's car. |

Paul, I decided just to drive up Saturday morning early. Probably leave my place around 6:30am or so if you want to meet up. Exit 63 on i85 is the closest to me.
The Carolina Z Club guys are planning to go get sushi for lunch after so join us! |

To save time, here's the snip from the facebook event (https://www.facebook.com/events/782746335103597) The meeting point is going to change from our normal meeting spot in West Columbia, due to it being the 2nd Saturday of the month, and the Big Lots parking lot already in use for their normal classic car meet. So this time we will meet at the Bilo-Hobby Lobby parking lot just off Hwy 1 near I-26. This is exit 111A - go up two lights, and its on the Right side. We will meet there @ 3:30 PM, and leave around 4 for a short group cruise, then head over to check out the Flight Deck in Lexington for some food and drinks. There's usually live music of some sort there, and plenty of places to sit around and shoot the breeze. Afterwards, those that would like to go check it out, we will be riding across the Lake Murray Dam and heading over to Harbison for another meet (https://www.facebook.com/events/410406745769170/) We'll be collecting any donations for Children's Chance (childrenschancesc.org) for those that can't make it out to the second meet in Harbison. The July Meet will be in Charleston area toward the middle of July. More info to follow soon on that meet. Hope to see a good turn out on the 14th. For those not on facebook, I'll be posting info as the next events come together. If you are on Facebook, make sure to stop by join the "Palmetto Z Club" group to stay up to date. |

Wish I could have stayed for Ru-San's, but by the time I found the other goobers that drove up with us, I had to head back. Hope to see you around again soon! |
How about an upstate dinner meet next Thursday (the 19th). Location TBD, time ~7pm. Just spoke to Geoff and he we're talking about it. Throw out some suggestions for location, does not matter to me.
*Also, don't forget Cars And Coffee next weekend, Saturday the 21st. We will probably go to lunch afterwords somewhere nearby. Carolina Z Club will be coming down to join us as well, it'd be nice to get all the Z's parked together* |

Hey guys. If we're trying to do Thursday night who's down to just do the drag strip? It's open night or whatever and I'd really like to see how my car fares. What do u think Patrick?
|
I'd rather just go to dinner somewhere personally but if the group wants to go, I'm not opposed to it.
|
I kinda would too but i forgot I told joey last week that I would go this week. he texted to remind me today. I dont think hes on the forums but he has the other white nismo 370...the obnoxiously loud one haha but hes switching his exhaust to resonated hfc and Fast intentions exhaust now. Lol I figured but not from a fellow mustang owner. Also drag strips are for ppl that wanna drive their cars and not just sit around chatting about how cute they are. :stirthepot:

Well I just want to figure out trap speed and time. I went once with the z and had a pretty good time. Lots of cool cars around.

Where is it exactly? |
It's in greer....not quite sure exactly what rd it's off of
|
I have no interest in what kind of times I can lay down in my all stock car, I can read magazines for that. I am interested in how it feels when I go on mountain drives. I have nothing against drag strips or trying to achieve personal best times but it's not as exciting to me as a spirited run on a good mountain road.
|
Well I don't think anyone will be down to go on a mountain run Thursday night. C'mon Patrick this isn't Tokyo drift. Lol. But I would agree I would rather handle better which is why I went with the particular suspension setup I'm running after a couple of chats with various dudes. It actually handles pretty darn well now I'm surprised.
|
Yeah I didn't mean Thursday night lol. I also don't like drag strips because it puts so much stress on the drivetrain. A highway pull every once in a while is one thing but to beat on my car all night at a drag strip is not something I'm particularly interested in. Regardless, if you've already committed to it with a friend, that's not a problem! Nobody said you have to join us, though it'd be nice, my friend.
Gents, any suggestions for eatery on Thursday? Brandon suggested Zoe's off of Woodruff road near I85 but we're not set on that. Let's see what everyone would like to do and try to make a final decision by tomorrow night... That good for everyone? I'll probably have a few C&C friends join from the area as well if they are available. |
I've heard good things about Zoe's but have not eaten there so I'm game.

I hadn't heard of it but Brandon says it's good. Let's do that unless anyone is paralytically opposed to it and has another suggestion. Say 7pm-ish till whenever? Any interest in going a little earlier and going to Le Mans Karting after to get a race in?
