However, IMO hearing a constant drone (with no difference to the outside noise) would start to bug...

Side note (question) - If say the sub specs say 1000w RMS but you power them with ~500w RMS amp, wouldn't you run the risk of underpowering the sub and damaging it via clipping/distortion?

Currently thinking that I'll go with the 18" resonators and then add HFCs later if its not loud enough.
