Nissan 370Z Forum

is it possible to ask the forum members about ACA without being political???

In particular I keep hearing on tv that the deductibles will be from $5,000 to up to $12,000. Meaning the patient will pay the first $5k before the ACA starts

If that's true? How many young people have $5k? No politics please. Is this true? or I'm just not listening well when I watch TV???

Right now I just want to understand this plan better. I'm NOT trying to cause a political discussion.... If it's a political question, please delete. It's just very hard to get the facts. Everybody has a different view.

More young people have $5k for a deductible than $50k to pay out of pocket for a catastrophic event.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patient...dable_Care_Act

The vast majority of people currently covered through their employer will see little change to their plans.

To answer you^^^^

99% of people 20 to 36 years old spend a couple of hundred dollars per year for doctor's visits. Even a broken arm can be fixed for under 5K.

Who? & how many will spend monthly health payments after you consider a 5k deductible + another 5k per year in monthly payments before the insurance kicks in/start paying the bills. Another thing that I don't seem to get/understand

ive visited docs a few times in my life, but even if i added all the visits, it would not add up to $5K.

that said, why the f- i need to pay for others beats the hell out of me.

was that too politicalish?

And when that person gets hit with something far worse than a broken arm, costs are passed to you. Period. Doctors don't let people die in the streets for lack of insurance. You are already paying for these people's medical care.

Most people get their insurance through their employer. That won't change. The ACA pushed employers who didn't previously offer insurance to employees to set up group plans. Individuals who aren't offered insurance through their employer can purchase their own plan on the open marketplace, or pay a $95 tax penalty.

Is it really political when you don't talk about parties & blame but to JUST discuss the # one story in the news today???

I feel/think eventually the private sector will end providing health care & pay the fine which is much less than paying for private health care. Then again maybe the Govt. made that fine for corporation small just so the companies did just that. Sounds like a good idea to get huge numbers signing on to the ACA.

The fine isn't small at the large company level, and good benefits are a good way to attract and retain talent. Look, the ACA is a bad way to force individuals to get insurance. That's not in question. But the "Chicken Little" reactions to it based on feelings are why our government is shut down at this moment.

We're already paying for those people, both through taxation and uninsured patient costs getting spread around to the insured. At least this way they can get some amount of coverage and pay some part of their bills.

we are in an era where people flipping burgers as a "permanent job" is okay. wtf. that is a job for kids to learn and prepare for adulthood, not a f-king permanent job to feed children.

The major failing of this act was the lack of cost controls on medical procedures. There's no way my ACL surgery should have been $20k+.
