I've got this SanDisk Extreme 32GB CF card that I cannot read or reformat in the camera or my computer.
Anyone have any suggestions on solving this problem or is the card dead? |

Omg, its been a while since I've been in here! After a nearly year long hiatus from photography (shakes head), I finally decided to get back into the game, investing in some very inexpensive lighting gear. I've shot without and external lighting for years, feeling overwhelmed by how difficult photography can be, but I digress. I snagged a couple of cheap YN-560 flashes, a canon 320exii flash, a couple stands and umbrellas, and some remote triggers. I never realized how easy to use flashes can be and how beneficial they are. These are my first car shots with the flashes.
This first shot, I had the sun directly behind the back of the car and the flashes positioned about 15 feet back, one to camera left, one to camera right, both angled toward the car. I used a CPL and the sky came out really deep blue. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...6562-Small.jpg This shot, sun in same position, just much lower than the previous shot, camera on the other side of the car. One flash in front of car, pointed toward the sun and bumper, and one on camera left hitting the side of the car. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...6612-Small.jpg This shot is my fave, same set-up as previous, I just hopped up on a small ladder and got this shot. http://i236.photobucket.com/albums/f...6596-Small.jpg I made the mistake of not using a lens hood, so when I got back, damn near all my shots had massive lens flare:mad: Better luck next time I guess! Any advise on setup would be greatly appreciated! |
Nice shots! The extra lighting really makes a difference.

thanks!

A little something I'm working on currently...

Nice DOF!
|
looks great! Just be careful, you can see the blurring on the edges of the car, the roof especially.

Sick!

The blur on the hood, trunk, and rear bumper still bother me.

Are you adding the DOF after the shot? And if so, why not just shoot it that way in the first place? I'd think with the lighting conditions in that shot, a lower f-stop would work just fine and save you the work of adding the background blur artificially. Not bashing, just curious. :tiphat: |

The blur doesn't bother me on the edges. In fact I could probably add more to the entire back quarter of the car giving it a smoother DOF. I dunno... I try lots of different things. |

Any extra lighting on that shot, or all natural existing light?
|
All existing. Lot lights had come on at this point.

Thx onz!

Oh, now I see them in the reflection of the car. Cool! The shadows are interesting too.
I like it a lot! Do you work at Oakley? The Blackhawk reminds me of hanging out on South Beach in FL. Topless women and thongs, and the sherrif's dept was doing a slow fly-by in their bird. You know they were using the hi-def camera under the nose to "take in the sights" because as soon as they got to the end of the beach they hit the throttle and bugged out at high speed. It was pretty funny if you were paying attention. |

Another nice shot.
|
Call me picky, but the model above just doesn't do it for me. The lighting of the shots is nice, but the model needs to sharpen up a bit.
