I will generally try to look for all the details and get everything right in camera but this was a pretty quick. Took it on a turn off spot in Cades Cove with the family waiting on me... haha. So I didn't have the time to pour over the details.
completely understand! sometimes there just isn't time. but, to me, if a picture is worth taking (and trust me, this one was!) then it's worth taking a minute to get it "right". not bashing you at all, just advice for all

Yea, there have been quite a few pictures where I just wish I would have just taken more time.

Just checked out the B+W CP filters.

There is a Kaesemann and a non Kaesemann... any suggestions? The Kaesemann one is a bit more expensive.

i had the regular one (think they are just under $100) and it was great. i bought a "fancier" version of calumet's CP after i broke my B+W 77mm taking pictures of tony's car at Z Nationals last year and honestly i can say the build quality is terrible and i don't think it works as good as the B+W did, despite paying ~$140 for it.

Well, looking on amazon, they are running about $140 for the regular and $170 for the Kaesemann.

Saw a "slim" one for $90.

Gotcha, looks like I will try to go with it then.

Might do some more research when I get off work.. *shrugs*

I guess the reason I really haven't bought another CP is because I don't do a whole lot of car photography... though I would like to.

they are nice to have for landscapes too. they make skies deep blue and cut out glare on leaves and other naturally shiny things

Also they are outstanding if your picture has any water in it at all.

Not sure if you guys have had this issue yet or not, but on a few occasions I've had the slim ones be VERY difficult to get off of my lens. I keep a few rubber bands in my bag to use as a "grip" to help get them off.

I spent every second between qualifying and competition at a drift event running around the pits looking for a rubber band one time so I could swap my CP to another lens. Some random kid had one in his truck and saved my day!

I always buy the biggest CPL (or any filter for that matter) that any of my lenses will need, and use step-downs. All of my filters are 77mm or 58mm, and I have rings for 78 to 72 and 58 to 52. Any vignetting is handle in PP.

posting this one up as a teaser for the photoshoot i did yesterday with my friend kyle. i took my own shots as well but kyle took this "fake rig shot" which involves a lot of editing and putting pieces of different exposures together.

*again, this is kyle's picture, not mine, just for the record *

^ Saw that last night... I thought it looked "faked", but either way very badass. Awesome opportunity to shoot a car like that. Can't wait to see the rest.

Excuse the profane yet healthy message
