it's nice to have someone close with the same hobby. and that sushi looks. :yum: i use to be just a traditional sushi guy eating just the standard fish and rice sushi but these days im starting to like these modernized sushi's i find at more americanized japanese restaurants. :yum:

i might go out take some snaps of my G later on but not sure yet. need to wash the Z first and clean up my files inside my MBP (macbook pro).

Hah yes. I'm very indecisive with this type of purchase. I use best buy return policy a lot to try things and compare. Then I return what I don't like : ) I'm loving the D7000 so far. Miss the tilty flippy swively screen but ill live.

I agree a put Tue sushi comment. Traditional doesn't really do.it for me these days!

Alchemy 08-07-2011 12:12 PM

Ok here are a few of the snaps I just took. Nothing special. Actually shot at the bottom of my driveway. Car is dirty as heck:facepalm:

nice shot. Eyes in perfect focus despite the movement!

kenchan 08-07-2011 01:04 PM

Alchemy- looks good. I like the last shot. I donno, I'd keep the fangs black like that!

Nitex- dang, very nice shot. its great that bestbuy has a nice return policy and convenience. I think these local stores have an edge on the convenience for sure vs online stores. :)

Alchemy 08-07-2011 01:12 PM

^ Nice pic Nitex. Your dog is awesome. Love the eyes in that pic, he\she looks crazy lol. Btw as I said I shot those pics at the bottom of my driveway. Never shot there before, it was alright. I like the first pic the best:)

And yes He is very crazy indeed. The ball is his life.. Anytime.. anywhere.. ball :ugh:

couldn't pick up an sb-700 in time for spocom. i was walking around and taking shots, everything came out awkward, wasn't too thrilled by it. lots of post processing will fix it, but i wish i could have had an external flash to help lighting lol

BeachZTT 08-07-2011 03:16 PM

Alch- love the black fangs. Definately fit the car!

Nitex- beautiful shot, beautiful dog!

Phelan- Yep, it's amazing what a speed light will do for your shots. We have an SB600 and an SB900. In most cases the 600 does just as good a job as the 900 and is lighter and easier to deal with.

Nitex 08-08-2011 04:46 PM

Ok i finished some pics of my zoo trip. I really wanted to share the tigers but unfortunately they were some of the first pics i took with the camera. And i was still fumbling with settings. At any rate here they are!

*Edit - I had a crap rocketfish CPL on for these photos.. if only i could go back and put my new Hoya CPL on..

Taken with my D7000 + Nikkor 70-300 at or close to max range.

This 1979 Lauterbach Custom hydroplane was designed and built by
my wife's grandfather and his brother. It was a treat
for us to get to see it. The original owner brought it
up from Florida where it is still raced. It is a work of art!!!

GTHAUS 08-09-2011 09:33 AM

Lots of nice shots in here guys! I've been shooting a ton lately. Finally sold my Sigma 24-70 2.8 and picked up a Canon 24-70L 2.8. Now I just need to grab a 7D and some ABs and I'll be set!

Here's a couple recent shots of our shop e92 BMW M3

Cmike2780 08-09-2011 01:21 PM

^^ I've been looking at the AB's for a while now. I don't have a good enough excuse to pull the trigger though.

I was just looking at your Raptor shoot thinking "I wish he would post some set up shots". I just picked up the generator for my portable lighting kit and will soon venture out for a test shoot of the roadster. Thank you very much for the head start!!!

HKYStormFront 08-09-2011 02:15 PM

glad to be of service :tiphat:

kenchan 08-09-2011 03:16 PM

HKY- dang.... so that's how the pro's do it. :D

im embarrassed to show picts of my umbrella-less ikea floor lamp with twisty bulb as my lighting... :rofl2::wtf2:

BeachZTT 08-09-2011 04:12 PM

Hey ken, we all gatto start somewhere. And that is a good way to learn about lighting... good and bad.

HKYStormFront 08-09-2011 05:19 PM

it's not much... there's nothing wrong with some improv lighting setups tho! i used them for a while with meh success. AB's are definitely the way to go for those with the means

Nitex 08-09-2011 10:06 PM

This probably wasn't the best idea for a new hobby considering I'm such a gadget geek. As i found the pro camera store in my area and my bank account suddenly got much much smaller.

Here is the new setup for macro :icon17:

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6079/...1245eefc_b.jpg

And now my first attempt at macro. I still have a ways to go but.. ultimately i would like to do some crazy macro videos. All photos taken tonight hand held. I'm very new to this but its really fun!

HKYStormFront 08-09-2011 10:48 PM

nice shots but use more f-stop for a greater DoF! you should be at least at f/8 or f/11 if not higher when that close! you may need to compensate by bumping up ISO or slowing down shutter speed if possible
