I would think they do. I've heard of sellers getting screwed by dishonest buyers.

I have filed a dispute through paypal, and has contacted the rightful owner about this matter.:tup: However, until this is resolved, I will not state any information regarding the scammer, the owner and any other info.

Surprisingly, the rightful owner is local. :tiphat:

Just wow man... If he wasn't in Canada I would seriously be willing to go over there with a few people and serve up some old fashioned justice. This isn't a matter of a few hundred bucks, we're talking tens of thousands of dollars at a time that he's screwing people over for. What a douche.

This issue has been plaguing the forums for a while, even with paying vendors. But always seems to be brushed under the rug. :confused:

Posting classified threads should be more strict. Seller should have to be premium members, certain number of post count, a certain registered date etc.

Figure a IP addy would un-cover alot of information about a person. They track your IP addy on this forum.

I thought the pic/username thing was already a requirement for big ticket items.

well if that is the case why didn't the MOD step in and give him the option to post a pic with the item or delete the post.

I don't know if it is required. But if it is not it should be.

It looks to be one of those things that's "required" but not enforced.

Trips is usually quickly on top of it, making sure the forum rules are met. I think this may have gotten out of hand before he, or another forum member, had a chance to say something.

Personally I set my own rules and do my own due diligence. Things I look for when purchasing include, but not limited to,

• Current, clear high res photos of the item for sale
• Post count, join date of member, general forum participation
• Accurate item description
• Speed of response during communication either by PM or posts in sale thread

If these simple things are not met, I won't give the item a second look. I realize this doesn't help with the current situation but maybe it will help going forward.

Unless they use a proxy, but these scammers seem to be pretty dumb when it comes to hiding their tracks.

I will add the new classified rules (ver. 2) end September or October. It will have different requirement for items with various prices. I'll try to post sooner. Until that's posted, you just have to take extra caution when you buy stuff. If you see a post that needs picture, ask for picture or report the post. Me or mod can chime in and ask them for picture (it's a requirement when we ask). Also, DO NOT EVER pay any money as "gift" via paypal trying to save couple bucks. Pay using proper paypal protocol (money sent for "goods") and this way you can dispute if necessary (you cant dispute 'gift" payments). If the prices are too good to be true, it probably is. Walk away. Do not purchase anything without talking to the member first. If he doesn't reply or fail to provide you info,pic etc via pm/email, walk away. Know the signs of whether something is fishy or not. Not sure? send me a pm. I get pm all the time where member ask me" AK what you think of this sale? should I buy?" I give them my honest input (or chime in to classified asking proper info). Just by taking small precautions, you can SIGNIFICANTLY lower your chances of getting ripped. DarkJak, keep me posted about your pm exchange with OP.

I suggest we do the pic rule like the rest of the forums do.

Every item you list for sale have to be photographed with your name and date, or instant deletion.

Yea it was real fishy. darkjak knew what he was getting in to and took the risk.
