i heard that you can keep a car even if it is totaled and keep the check. but i assume its too late for any of that. I've had a couple of friends with older cars (3-4k) have their cars "totaled" and take the check, keep the car and either sell it for parts or fix it. any thoughts on a new ride?

As for a new ride, I just bought an octane blue pearl '08 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X GSR. I will post up some pics soon (after I wash/wax/clay bar it of course). Style-wise inside and out, it doesn't compare to the Z and I would rather have my Z back. Having said that, it sure is a nice ride, and I bet its all-wheel-drive chassis, Brembo brakes and modest 2.0L I4 MIVEC turbo-charged engine would give the Z a run for its money. ![]() ![]()

that sounds like a fun car. did you get auto or manual? any mods planned? How do you feel btw? any pain from the accident or are you totally fine? What happened exactly, if you don't mind talking about it?

![]() ![]() As for the accident, I feel fine now. I had some cuts and bruises, but they've almost healed. What happened was I wasn't paying attention and ran right into the back of another car (a Mercedes truck) without putting on the brakes going about 40mph. It was really scary, but fortunately everything is working out with insurance and all that stuff. Eric

sorry to hear about what happened. i'm sure it won't ever happen again to you, so maybe its a blessing.
but more importantly, that evo sounds like a beast already and what you have planned sounds awesome. just curious, how come you went with 7at on the Z and manual on the Evo? |

What kinda seats did you have in the Z? If they were leather, any chance of getting them back? Im not too far from you, I could take a trip up to NY and do a swap. PM me, and let me know.

I'm closing the thread this weekend and selling the remaining parts for scrap. So, if you want anything PM me ASAP.

Why don't you buy the car back from the insurance and fix it? Looks like just front end damage. I bet you can find another Z with rear end damage and fix yours.
Just curious, how much was the quote for repair?

There is no quote for repair; the car was totaled.
