Price is going to drop like a rock after the hype of the car goes down
I really like it at $25K OTD but anymore than that I would rather have a used 370Z |

Again, it's okay looking, but it warms me about as much as a Genesis, which means luke warm. In the looks department, the Z, and hell for that matter, the Camaro and Mustang blow this away. It's not "bad" looking, it's just not good looking either. Scale of 0 -10, this gets a 5 to 6. Just not my cup of tea I guess. Performance is another animal, and one I'm sure we'll all hear a lot about shortly. |
FRS manual MSRP is almost $25k, I bet BRZ will be more expensive.
FRS does not have LSD but BRZ has LSD with more option. I would rather go with WRX... BRZ need to come out with a F/I like WRX. |
they are trying to seperate the wrx line from this, its why you won't see this in AWD either

To put it into perspective its (in inches) 165.4(L) x 69.7(W) x 50(H) That about 8 inches longer than a Miata, about two inches wider and about an inch taller. It's shorter than the 370z couple by about 2 inches and the roof line is about two inches lower. http://pictures.topspeed.com/IMG/cro...z-7_460x0w.jpg |

I keep seeing different numbers for the length of the car...
motortrend says the FR-S is 166.7 inches long (2013 Scion FR-S First Drive - Motor Trend) Scion's official specs says its 166.9 inches (Scion FR-S | FR-S Features | Specifications | Scion.com) Subaru-BRZ official spec states 166.7 in (2013 Subaru BRZ) Finally the C&D says the BRZ is 166.9 inches long (2013 Subaru BRZ Sports Car First Drive – Review – Car and Driver) Not sure who to believe, but its probably not 165.4... |

scion website says 166.9 |
I got the original figures from Edmunds. The Subaru site says 166.7 x 69.9 x 50.6. My original point still stands -- the picture made the car look big. It's actually quite compact.

not seeing much room for an aftermarket turbo
|
Just like all other performance cars, needs some sort of a wing, and it will be perfect. Can't wait to see a BRZ in blue in a showroom.

Various news stories report Subaru as saying there is no turbo planned for the STi version-- they claim no room for an intercooler and that they want to keep the turbo'd division separate |

Only the BR-Z has a LSD not the FR-S?
I'd prefer mine without a big goofy wing. I'm pretty sure the car will be well worth the 25-27K asking price. The reason for the skinny / med grade tires are to make the car more fun to drive. The tires make its limits more approachable during normal everyday use. They could have easily put wider / stickier tires on the BR-Z / FR-S to help it achieve better #'s on the track but that wasn't their goal with the car. Their goal was to build an affordable RWD sports car which is fun to drive above all else. If you're not much into driving and prefer better #'s you can easily switch to wider / stickier tires. If you're really concerned with 1/4 mile times you should buy a Mustang not that that's all it's good at. The BR-Z / FR-S will probably turn out to be more fun to drive than most cars costing 2/3X times its price regardless of the numbers. So to argue the car isn't worth it's ~ 25K asking price is pretty weak. |
^^ I know the BRZ has an LSD. The FRS doesn't have one standard, but I'm not sure if one is available as an option.
Also not a big fan of wings, but I wouldn't kick a Super GT BRZ out of bed for leakin' oil :) |

I have no doubt it will be fun to drive but there's no way I'm paying that much for a car like that. I'd wait and buy used if I really wanted one.

this car is not going to worth that much.... if you look at the number, but after actual driving, it might worth every penny.
