Wow what a great car! I can see now why people get addicted to Porsches. It was the only test drive I've that the sales guy told me to keep going faster! Hit a few on and off ramps and he said go faster, all the while my thoughts of the *** end coming around and me wadding the car. Having had a Nismo, my current V, and lots of motorcycles with being a licensed road racer, I'm not timid and know how to apex. Hit the S button and it gets really stiff and the throttle is quicker that is really noticeable, much more than doing it in my V. I was thinking of the 15 Nismo, but the 997 is a whole other league. Prices are pretty close to each other too.

It is a different experience no doubt. Now go drive a 997 Cayman S. Its a better comparison to a Z car, and IMHO a better sports car then the 911.

The 3.8 will have more go but the Cayman will rotate with sublime ease.

A 997 4S being pretty close in the price category as a NISMO? I am going to throw the flag on that one, the 911 will be a bit shagged to get sub 50K. 996's all day long but the 997 4S was a 100K car in its day. Arguably over priced but still they have not taken a nose dive. Used 981 Caymans should be hitting the market in a year and will touch 50K soon.

Yeah, I have to resist looking. Not fair to the ZR who has been a great car and doesn't deserve me cheating like that...

I work on these bad boys as my daily grind. They are great cars whether its a 911 or Cayman. You can decide on your own as to which you like better, personally I like both alot, but if I could afford a 09-11 Cayman S I'd probably have one. If you're serious about buying a Porsche, the one piece of advice I have is MAKE SURE IT'S PORSCHE CERTIFIED PRE OWNED! Best of luck, and if you have any questions feel free to PM me.

Hi,
The new Tech Nismo is about 46K, the 2007 911 4S is about 49K.....I'm betting I can get it for 48K. Its got 45 K miles and not shagged, has all records with it, has new water pump, plugs, coils, tires, recent oil change, brake and clutch fluid, good tires and brakes. Its too old to be a CPO, but I can get a Fidelity warranty. the IMS seems not to be a big issue on the 2007 997S engine. One front bumper respray as the records show but that's ok. Has sports chrono, Bose, heated power seats, navigation, dimmer mirrors, and 19 inch turbo wheels. I have the build sheet, and new it was 98K.....Cayman is nice but I like the extra room you get with a 911. Had DME run and no over-revs recorded or fault codes in ECU. So it would be a bit of gamble without warranty sure, I have been checking rennlist and have yet to see a 2007S have the IMS issue. They have offered up a 60 day warranty. End of the month....its been on the lot two months now.....its got to move. Lots of 997's have been traded in for the 991's, which I will never to afford new. The 991 is a much bigger car.

Sounds like a cool car at a rock bottom price, and yes the IMS bearing isn't as big of an issue on the 07's.

Sounds like a nice bow in the price curve for a 997. I don't follow it that closely and they certainly do move.

Seeing more 997's CPO used as folks get into 991s makes sense for sure. Its just not my cup of tea for value but given the price point its hard not to look closely at it as its only 15K or so more then a similar Cayman S.

Me...I'm hanging on to the Z car. She's been good to me. Perhaps a 981 GTS CPO will land in my lap in 2016
