Incentive on 2016 camaro, 10% off. That's a savings of up to $5000 not including if you can negotiate invoice pricing so you're looking up to $7,000 or 8K with haggling.

Neither are on my list of potential fun cars, but if I were to go Chevy, in my opinion, other than the back seat and cost, I see no reason to get a Camaro over the Corvette.

probably biggest thing would be insurance

....And the Fuel Surcharge.
The ZL1 will be over 60K and is the only thing close to the corvette. I drove a 2SS Camaro two weeks ago because I was interested in the 50th anniversary. Lots of bling and up-to-date technology. Sits low like the Z and has great road feel. I drove the automatic and liked it. Shifts are crazy fast through the 8 speed. Paddle shifters on the steering wheel are large and in perfect locations. Seats are comfortable to me and I like the sunroof option. Going back to drive the stick. Probably not going to get one unless something changes. The realistic thing is this: I have 15K miles on a 2009 Z. And I am not made of money, so not a great investment. Too little seat time for so much money. The 50Th should come in at about 48K for the Coupe and good accessories. |
Don't laugh, I'm seriously considering picking up a Miata or SS in the next month. Yea, I know. Polar opposites. Drive both and consider JUST street cars. Both are hilarious fun for two different reasons. If I can convince my better half to master a stick it's the Mazda. That little SOB is a hoot!! So is the Chevy but in a brutal, haymaker type. Both too fun.

ZL1 features are insane. U gotta love it. Al Oppenheimer or what ever talks about algorithm transmission technology like Nissan wasn't doing it back in 03 along with downshift rev matching. And you can actually engine brake a Nissan. But regardless... The camaro is insane. If they AWD'd this thing. Nissan would have trouble. |
Looks like the 2017 Camaro 1LE models are real performers -- even the V6 1LE had a better lap time than the current Mustang GT:

The more renditions of the Camaro come out, the farther back cars are in second place in the price range. https://youtu.be/xjKjnbOsSEs |
