Wow... That kinda kills the whole allure of the car being CF and such

Well other features that people are thinking that add to the "standard" weight are, required A/C, a couple extra airbags (side), passenger seat needed extra hardware to slide (is static in euro version), and radio plus speakers are standard.

All in all, government stuff added some but forcing the A/C and radio standard is probably 200lbs right off the line.

But aren't Ze German's safety specs higher than ours?

Could be, but I think it has to do with what the US requires per its safety rules that the Euro does not.

actually they kind of are, they are 340~ or so pounds heavier due to a reinforced cockpit and various safety equipment

God bless DOT and not ECE :shakes head:

Hence the Irony. Its far easier to export as US Spec car to Europe than vicer versa.

There is that, and the US has a 25 year rule...:shakes head:
You can thank Mercedes for that one.

My dad test drove one a week ago while shopping for a new car after the GT-R

it was pretty disappointing apparently in every aspect not just power(wel duh its a 1.8 liter)

plus no trunk

This is a modern sportscar. its like what 40k-50k?

you can't get a fricking satnav built in.

plus alfa romeo are pretty damn unreliable. I have a friend who used to work in an alfa dealership for 5 years. they couldn't keep up with the stream of broken down alfas :roflpuke2:

but in general italian cars are pretty unreliable.

I saw these cars for three days straight. It was foggy the first two but this is what they filmed the third.

I actually saw this guy and camera man.

All the cars lined up are at Sears Point Raceway in Sonoma.

The video talks about this a bit.

This is no GTR maybe a 370 replacement but I'd take the C7. Your reliability comment is likely why Alfa hasn't been imported for 20 years, 8C excepted.

Just saw the estimate price in excess of 80k. Unreal, no thanks. Rather have a lotus or better still used GTR.

The review was average. Ive driven the car and its a fun visceral driving car. No it doesnt have a camera. Nor did the Elise. Its a no power steering, no frills yet high tech(Carbon fiber tub etc) pure fun driving machine. No nav? NO loss lol. Map reading still applies lol! Im amazed at some of the comments here all via keyboard testing. Yeah ok.
Comparing this to any 400+ Hp hyper/super car is well..a b s u r d! Want a camera? Get an Escalade. The reviewer is typical spoilt why doesnt my car make pizza for me. My god 15 years ago we drove with alot less and thats what this represents. Its a F'n mid engine fun rocket. IM glad Ive driven it and Im happy Alfa is back. Want reliability? Get a Honda-- If thats all you are buying for.

This car new ordered will not be 80,000$ It will be if you let a dealer gouge you for a Launch Edition.

So.... Car's can't have compromise, not even a little?
I think what you're saying is absurd to be honest.

The GTR will rape this, has 4 seats has reliability, and has a trunk, and has a camera, and a stereo... Corvette has the same minus the 4 seats...

If they want 50-60k and hideously impractical, they better give me something more than a visceral driving experience... If I JUST want that I'll buy a Caterham, which will rape this thing too

Lambos come with trunks, shitty ones to be honest, but still and nav. The GTR will rape this, has 4 seats has reliability, and has a trunk, and has a camera, and a stereo... Corvette has the same minus the 4 seats...

THe car is full of compromises. Its that way by nature as its
-Mid engined
-Lightweight by design to the extreme
-That appears to be missed by a few here
GTR? Vette? Sorry but thats not what this car was designed to compete with. Caterham hideous and impractical. Why-- because compromise. Go drive then we can talk. Ive owned 3 diff Lotus Turbo's. This car reminds me of all of them. Its a great driving car. If you need help with what a 'driving car' is well.....I wont bother lol! Get a Vette and hang at Cars n Coffee.

You mean I have to compromise FOR the car...

I'm saying why can't the car compromise for me, if the car can only do one thing well, it better be the god damn best, and I bet it's not the best for the money spent, that's what I'm saying. Rather look like a prick in a Caterham, lol

An interesting review of the 4C from Richard at TopGear. Worth a look without all the Vette/GTR comparisons that are way off base lol!
