I see y they wanna get rid of that 2.0t motor. It doesn't sound good and not meant for a sporty coupe that size and doesn't seem like a good match to manny tranny. V6 was better but I still didn't feel the connection. I really wanted to like the car too. I'll have to drive v6 again later.

I drove rspec, nice seats, and radio though.
. I drove the 2010 and 2012 3.8 gencoupes. Touring & track. And drove the 2012 2.0 r-spec.
I found the track model very good for the street. It just needs tires as wide as our Z sport to really get better grip in the corners. Also it needs a lower COG for overall roadholding. That would give it some track prowess. The steerings is numb unless you push the car hard, then it livens up and feels nicely weighted.

What is wrong with the 2.0 is it is a Sams Club version of the venerable, yet frugal Lancer engine. How Hyundai justified cheapening parts on an already cheap engine is beyond me???
Then the 2.0 did not mate well with the Aisin, retuned the Aisin with the ECU.. Nothing. ZF tranny... nothing. Hyundai sourced... Still unreliable. The 2.0 has been unreliable with all 3 transmissions. My guess is, Hyundai woke up and realized you can't build a SAMS club engine for the track and they are pulling it from the market.

I think we will see the 2.0 built right and working right in the upcoming KIA GT4 coupe. Kia did wonders with the Koup. They call it an 8/10 civic in performance with better interior. NOT bad comparitive statement considering how loved the Civic is. Lets see what happens when they put Macys parts to replace the old sams club bits.
