the 2 sec 0-60 time is a confirmed false rumor... I expect it to be more like 2.5 as the main differences in the NISMO is aerodynamics from Williams

speaking of the car its setting a nurburgring time today!

there are big changes in the GTR program. there is a new chief engineer from infiniti and a new product planner head who replaced mizuno when he left this spring.

the R36 is as little as 1 year away now

I looked at a brand new jet black one at the dealer after dropping my car off for service. It's a limited opportunity.

MC, did you open up the driver side vent? I see the passenger side one leading to [assuming] the power steering cooler. It was a bit of a surprise to see the driver side inlet closed off.

Other than that, I wish the car was smaller. It's as big as it's 100k price tag haha.

there never was ringers

but yeah no confirmation on the time yet but it seems it was successful as there was reports of champagne and pictures at the start/finish line

im betting its under 7:10... i dont "think" it will beat the 6:57 of the 918 with street tires...but it was spied a few weeks ago with potenza semi slicks so who knows

it should be awesome.. im excited as if everything goes to plan i should have one if the first ones

no because it wouldnt go anywhere but to the fender liner and for its possible could create more drag for all I know so I just left it as is..that is there just for design continuity the passenger side goes to the oil cooler and the driver side vent is just there to visibly match it

It is big no doubt but you know i never feel it driving unless im on a super small autoX then it sucks lol

Haha. I never driven or been in the passenger side of one, but it definitely has a snappy throttle response like the DE/HR. For a manual, that would be so nice for fast blipping downshifts.

I found 2 seconds to be a huge jump. That's why I titled lthe thread with that question mark. Nissan Infiniti are doing great things right now with the red bull racing team and NISMO.

I think it was some misunderstanding... see williams is helping NISMO with this car and a UK reporter asked one of the williams engineers about the acceleration and he said that alleged quote that got spread across the car sites....but maybe he meant 2 tenths quicker or just something generically like it will be in the 2 sec range...

but one of the Nissan executives corrected it in a recent interview.

the car would need a hybrid system with instant torque to achieve that. which ironically enough is what the R36 is going to be.. its just not known if they are going to use williams flywheel tech or the more traditional battery packs...

Aside from their name and sponsorship dollars Infiniti doesn't actually contribute anything to Formula 1 or Red Bull. But it's a good marketing pitch!

Interested to see the latest Nordschleife results. I'm with MC, beating the 918 performance will be tough. Apparently they set the 918 up in hot-lap mode where it will give up all it's battery power over the course of the lap. Getting within 15 seconds of that car would be impressive enough (currently about 20 seconds off). Need to beat that Viper!
