those buckets work just fine. having casters is nice too. maybe you can make a bracket for the bottom and install your own casters? :)
you can probably even get away with having only 3 casters since it's round. and get one with the brake if your driveway has incline. |
After driving a lowered Z for the last 5 years I have been spoiled since my car and roof is so low.
I do need to get some kind of fix stool for my driveway so I can clean the roof of the Fit effectively with my PC |
hahaha, i use a step stool myself.
get one with a slot in the center so it's easy to pickup with just your finger. plus, you can hang it on the wall when not in use and keep the garage floor clear. Amazon.com - Romanoff Step Stool, White |

Well I am one of those freaks that squeezes into the Z. So standing at 6'4" to 6'5" depending on which convenience store I am walking out of I can reach the top of the Fit without too much difficulty. Unfortunately the driver seat doesn't offer anymore room in the Fit than it does in the Z. Other than head room of course. My right knee is still touching the dash in either case.
And for some reason now I want casters on my buckets.... |

the 350Z and G35C's have a much wider range of body size they can fit.
the 370Z is pretty much for taller guys or guys that must have short legs and long torso... :ugh: i cant' see shitt over the factory dumbo side mirrors making a left turn in my 370Z. thus i have the craftsquare mirrors on my Z. :D no such issue in my G35C or any previous cars ive owned. |
I'd say my height is the cutoff point for the Z. I can't really fit in it with a helmet on but damn it I am tracking it at Z Nationals anyway. If it becomes more of a regular basis I will opt for racing seats to give me more room and be more comfortable on the track. But with work switching me back to a travel position I may not have time for that next year :(
|
yah, ive read that about folks having issues while having a helmet on...
should've seen the fatarse that did the smog check on my Z... he was so huge i could barely fit inside to start the car. :ugh: other employees were cracking jokes at him that he will get stuck. |
Quote:
EDIT: nvm just saw you're 6'4/6'5". That's actually my height and I agree, I'm not sure I would fit with a helmet without doing some seat mods. |
6 4" ~ 6 5" he noted, mr.zman. :)

Back somewhat on topic. Have either of you experienced the arm rest on the door of the Fit cracking? I think my drivers door is cracked. I never put my elbow on it as its too low for me. Wonder if it would be covered under my CPO warranty... |
Yah, unfortunately I had no choice but to let the guy start the car. :icon14:
As for the fit, no issue with the arm rest. Should be covered under warranty. :) |
You might be able to get the dealer to cover that door arm rest.
If not I think it's a pretty cheap part that you could easily replace yourself. When I got the Panda tinted my tint guys actually removed the door cards for easier access |
I'm not generally a big fan of the Fit or other similar cars, but I have to say I like what you have done with yours. Looks good man.

I am about 4 months into ownership and honestly could not be any happier and I am glad I made the decision to buy it. |

no pictures, but i did manage to strip off all old sealant and do the one-step sealant over the weekend on my '12. car looks brand new again. :D
also ordered up the front Aries a/s floor mats for my '12. going to give the newish factory a/s mats to my '09. i looked at the a/s mats in my 09 (originals) over the weekend and noticed a small hole in the driver mat. :icon17: will need to do the sealant on the 09 pretty soon... not really looking forward to that. |

I have realized what I did wrong the last time I used my PC on the car and since I ran of out daylight I had to cut it short. I cut most of the swirls out by need to really follow up with my polishing compounds and finally try out that sealant. Quote:
Not sure if you have used a cover before but just keep an eye on how dirty your car is before you cover it. Light dust is fine but if it's really dirty you don't want to cover it until you can wash it. Also be aware of your exhaust tips and if you come home after a cruise just leave them uncovered until they can cool down. Quote:
Also, for me it helps to make my cars less noticeable to passerby's. I have two really modified cars sitting in my driveway with some valuable parts on them so if I can at least hide them when I am asleep or away it gives me some piece of mind :) |
I'm not sure if I ever shared it here but I was lucky to have the car featured twice on the Tanabe Facebook page since I have owned the car
First time to promote my DF210 springs http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps48e74b8c.png Second time to promote my Medallion Touring exhaust http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps2667d76d.png |
love how your fit came together so nicely wais, definitely deserves to be up on tanabe's website :)
|
Thanks Mike :)
Lucky for me the Fit aftermarket is pretty strong, you're going to need to be patient for companies to start making stuff |

They are water resistant so light rain and morning dew are normally prevented but if you know it's going to rain hard you should just remove it. I too use it so the sun doesn't beat down on my car and I have several cats and skunks in my area so they like to piss on my front bunper :icon17: Enjoy the cover and if you need any tips on washing it let me know :) |
Bravo on the project, Micro Image is a great forum. I have been friend with ChinoCharles practically forever!

hope you're feeling better, waizzz. :D
yah the 3" is almost a requirement to do the roof sidepieces, side sills/rockers, and rear. :) since my car is relatively swirl free i just used a sealant with polish, called One-Step Sealant from Griots. it leaves behind a teflon like slick (and hard) surface. lasts a long time. :) i dont like spending much time on my dd's. |
Well I finally got my driver door panel replaced today by the local dealer. They made it seem like they were jumping through hoops and at first didn't want anything to do with it since it was bought out of state. But in the end the car is CPO. They called it a good will fix on the paperwork. I'm just glad the arm rest is no longer cracked
In other news on my drive to the dealer this happened. I was several car lengths behind an F150 who was in the right lane with some sort of kayak or canoe sitting in the bed. I was in the right lane. Well as my luck would have it the paddle blows out of the bed and skids over into my lane. The brakes on the Fit were not going to shut it down in time and at the risk of getting rear ended if the person behind me wasn't paying attention also with a vette on my left side I had no room to go anywhere. I did my best to try and miss it at the last second. But my passenger rear wheel caught one end of the paddles and shattered it in a million pieces with the help of my rear bumper. Looks like I may have gotten away with one as the black mark left by the plastic paddle on the rear bumper by the fender well rubbed off and I didn't see any other marks although its raining here and hard to tell what other marks may be present. |

Man I was KO'd :( Quote:
Wow what a crazy story with that paddle, thankfully you didn't have to dodge the entire kayak itself. :icon14: |
how about one of these next? 190hp typeR fit. lol :D hahaha. like a joke, but it appears to be coming together for 2015 uk market along side the 290hp(?) civic-R.

That gives me hope for the next generation car even though I will most likely keep this car for 5-6 years so it won't matter to me. BTW, Andrew just spotted the next gen Fit testing here in SoCal and posted it in our local Facebook group. Looks pretty good! http://i638.photobucket.com/albums/u...psb961a877.jpg |
