Nissan Working on Mini-Z to target FR-S/BRZ - Motor Trend I have also read that the actual successor to the current Z will focus on losing weight rather than gaining power to achieve better performance numbers. |

This sucks!! I thought this thread was gonna be about the next Z. I dont care what Hyundai wants to do. The car is ugly in my opionion... well the 2013 version. Nissan has history and has earned it's strips. Will the Gencoupe be around for 50 years. i personally dont think so. Hyundai is doing a lot of things right, "right now" But you wanna see a consistant trend of promise from them. earn my respect if you want my money. Until then Hyundai has and always will be a after thought to me. It's kinda like the Atlanta felcons. they had the best record in the NFC but you just dont trust them come play off time. The Gencoupe looks better then the Z on paper but just does not get the job done (the Gencoupe is actually targeting the Z) which to me is a fail i dont care if it's the first sports car ppl are still spending money on the car.

2.The gencoupe has NEVER targeted the Z from a commercial standpoint. It has targeted G37 and mustang directly. 3 series indirectly. The closest we"ve ever been as targets is the gencoupe owners try to tune there cars to be as fast as ours through intake, exhaust and tune. 3. You're in the other vehicles section. Why would Z news be here??? I hope you're not going troll on here cuz you will feel it in the end??? Just a warning. Last edited by UNKNOWN_370; 02-21-2013 at 06:20 PM. |

You're knowledge of cars and you spewing out the word heritage don't go hand in hand. And all im saying is don't troll. You started off in a troll like way. Just letting you know trolling wont be tolerated. You can speak freely as long as it's not ignorant personal bias. 2. A reviewer may be comparing but hyundai's market research & sales department is who states who they compete against. Not the shmuck who wrote your favorite article 3. You didn't know you were in the "Other vehicles" section? Your fault, not mine. Next time know where you're going and answer accordingly. YOU NOT RESPECTING the gencoupe is your issue. Here in my thread. WE RESPECT ALL SPORTS CARS at least in the way we publicly write about them. I don't need people from gencoupe forum coming in here to tell us how douchy and elitist we are. We just have reasons why we don't like them. All posts should be at least respectful. You think it doesn't have enough heritage for you is enough for us to get the message. I don't want this to be a bashing thread. You don't like it? You can't come up with an educated response or reason why you don't like a vehicle? Keep it to yourself!! All im saying is. Bring your car knowledge. Not your ignorant insults with no point but elitism and bias. Lastly, no one is threatening anything. We been able to avoid trolling here for a long time. I don't want the trend to restart. Your style of writing incites senseless troll posts. ![]() P.S. Don't get your Kotex in a bunch... Last edited by UNKNOWN_370; 02-22-2013 at 09:30 AM. |

If Hyundai goes through with either a V8 or TT V6, it's going to be a priced close to $47k....That's roughly the premium you pay for the Genesis V8 Sedan over the V6 Sedan. That's a tough pill to swallow, especially when the Mustang's & Z are due for a re-design. That's also close to the new Corvette Stingray's territory. That Hyundai V8 can't compare to the 6.2-liter LT1. Hyundai has to go with a turbo'd V6 and keep it below $40k to be successful. Truthfully, it doesn't really matter what they stuff under the hood, the Gen Coupe needs a better overall design.

I think once hyundai works their korean magic, I think the top of the line gen coupe would be no more than 40k. Anything more than that and they are pricing themselves out of the market. Maybe they would lose the 2.0T altogether to bump it upmarket a bit.

Let me see porky 3700 lb v8 genesis or a 2700 to 2800 lb turbo 4 Z. I now which I would buy!
Hyundai is so boring I could scream! Wonder if they are considering any aluminum suspension pieces this next Gen? They are definitely keeping pace with 2005 Mustang however!

2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 Track vs 2013 Ford Mustang V6 Performance Package - YouTube As it stands right now I would rather choose a Z BUT. Hyundai did say they would focus on weight reduction on the next gen car as well in a previous article... If they go with the proper suspension, better sport pkg wheels and a few chassis & interior tweaks. they could be looking at a 200lb drop. which means they might be able to get away with a bigger motor and a 30-80lb weight reduction from the current car? I had a student that I instructed at The Drivers Edge that had a new Gen Coupe 2.0T. It did not feel anything near 274hp and the handling was terrible. It blew up the trans before the end of the weekend, which I was thankful for as I just wanted out of that POS.

Here is how people usually think, you only need a few people to say "certain car brand sucks" and it will spread like wild fire. This is pretty much the case for hyundais, a lot of bad reputations, rumors or not.. That is why people will always have that first impression.
Look at this with a more open mind, no doubt that hyundais have improved over the years, but people will always be like "yes i know they are improving, but are they the same level as such and such car brands?" |

What i really respect about hyundai is they have the Hyundai think Tank. This is where owners can give a wide array of feedback to Hyundai about future improvements. I never had Nissan ask me about improvements for my Z. Just some third party company asking about what we would like in our altimas. I know it was a sample survey and not the per customer type from hyundai. This is why I follow their growth in spite of... That's as open minded as you can get. |

you forgot about project 370Z...im sure someone at nissan is taking the time to read over that and im pretty sure the comments that have been left by people on that page have some things to say about whats lacking in the current z or what they would like to see in the next z just like we do here. nissan may not have their own comments section on their website, but they are still involved in social media. Any way im glad that hyundai has been continually improving upon the genesis cause in the end it makes other manufacturers sit up and take notice ie. Nissan |
