IThe Genny coupe was a contender while shopping for a new car but I was totally turned off by the interior. Still needs some work, but the turbo in that dark grey with the brembos is freakin hot. Hyundai or not, the lines on the 2013 are just sexy. And the horsepower for the buck makes it extremely competitive.

You are talking about Datsun 30-40 years ago??? Nissan has proven themselves with the z and gtr for decades now gtfo......... You guys are funny. Why don't you trade your z's and buy one? Feel free! The gen coupe been around for how long? Lol. |

The early nissans weren't exactly the hottest cars around. Nissan didn't really get things cooking stateside until the 300zx...it takes a long time for a manufacturer to get up to speed. It's even harder for Hyundai as there are even more established brands now. |

Don't you think it's HIGHLY IGNORANT to think because one company took 40 years? The other company needs exactly 40 years to get it right??? The hunger for a proper sports car in the american market may make them take less time? Who knows until the next gen coupe comes out how much they can do in what time? Like Red said, The Z didnt get respect till the 300zx... and not the first gen, (that one was a joke.) The 1990 300zx changed the game for Nissan. The Rx7 turbo & turbo II, Supra and Celica were the 80's import tuners of choice. You mention the GTR, but we couldn't tangibly prove it in the US till 2008. "You guys are funny. Why don't you trade your z's and buy one? Feel free!" So you're saying, because "Some of Us Believe"... "The Next Gen Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8"... May Possibly step up to a higher level, admittedly trying to battle BMW while we know for a fact many JDM cars are downsizing and downgradingand these are written facts!!! we can't observe these details and discuss them without wanting to be Gencoupe converts??? Does that make sense to you??? You can love or hate Hyundai, But don't let your emotions BLIND you from the facts. No one is calling the gencoupe a Z killer or better than the G other than calling it a winner as a better performance value over the cost of a new G. The Z isn't even really a topic of discussion in this thread unless making seriously minor comparisons. Keep in mind this a thread about future generation cars, not one about Fanboy ranting. :ugh2: |

Relax bro |

Yup that's all needed to be said. I ain't a fanboy, they just haven't proven **** lol I also like to spend my thousands wisely |
What does stateside have to do with nissans history?
It doesn't matter if nothing was here. They still engineered these. They had the Silvia, Silvia R, pulsar Gti R, gtr, 300zx, and other cars, i think they know wtf they are doing when it comes to sports cars. Hyundai though has a gen coupe with 348 Hp oh damn!!!! |
I rarely see genesis coupes around. I did for a while in 2008. I had a few friends that said they were the best since baked beans and could eat my Saturn Sky for lunch. Most ate crow and sold the within the year. Now it has been almost a year since I have seen a genesis coupe in traffic and I live in Houston. I see way more Z's than I see hyundai cars.
Heck even my dad bought new hyundai in 2011 and within six months he was driving a new Nissan Altima. He said hyundai was crap. |
Quote:
Yo but its gonna have 400 Hp and 350 tq soon, so we know its gonna be bad *** man. Lol |
The Gen Coupe may not be at the top of the list, but like I said before, Hyundai is stepping up and definitely did a good job at their first sports car entry. The interior is cheap because the 3.8 r spec is priced a good 4k under the base 370z. Sure they need some more refining, it's rare that someone gets it perfect the first time.
To be fair, at the "spend my thousands wisely" statement, I have had issues with the steering lock and CSC on the Z with 28k miles. The Genesis has been problem free for me for 30k miles. Don't take that the wrong way, I love my Z to death! The Z is still the better car, but the Z is far from perfect as well. If the Genesis Coupe, sitting as is, had another company's badge on it, it would receive more praise than it does. But because its a Hyundai, it still has a negative stigma that people refuse to get over. |

I just went on the website, the 3.8 track model is close to 34k That isn't much far behind a z, sti, evo, Camaro, mustang. |

My point exactly...... It takes time, and they proved themselves What's your argument? Hyundai gen came out yesterday? |
I mean look how much Ford improved their quality in the last like 2-3 years. I know they were an already established brand, but they improved the quality of their cars greatly in the past couple years.

In fact, I clearly said that, way back here: Quote:

Exactly then they proved themselves over time. |

Genesis Coupe 3.8 R-Spec: MSRP $28750 348hp/295tq 19 inch alloy wheels Torsen LSD Brembo Brakes 370Z base with sport: MSRP $36150 336hp/260tq 19 inch Rays (Awesome) LSD Akebono's Synchro rev Thats a little over 7k difference if you compare apples to apples. There is a reason why the wheels arent forged, and the interior isnt quite as nice. As far as the actual performance of the cars, the 370z has almost 40 years of experience behind its engineering. The Genesis is Hyundais first real sports car, they have some bugs to work out. The 370z really isnt a competitor anyhow, just using it as comparison. Hyundai is in the process of proving themselves atm imo. |
370z not even the Nismo. Best comparison to the Gensis coupe.
The car's performance potential was further confirmed at the track, with the Z posting a more than respectable 4.8-second 0-60 mph time, and completing the quarter-mile in 13.4 seconds at 105.6 mph. That's faster than the 2013 Hyundai Genesis Coupe 3.8 we recently tested, which posted a 5.2-second 0-60 and a 13.9-second quarter-mile at 102.2 mph. The Nissan required 106 feet to brake from 60-0 mph, and averaged an impressive 0.99 g in lateral acceleration, beating out the heavier, track pack-equipped 2013 Mustang V-6 Premium's 60-0 stopping performance of 110 feet and a skidpad average of 0.95 g. With its figure-eight result of 25.1 seconds at an average 0.74 g, the Z proved it's still an agile handler. Read more: 2012 Nissan 370Z First Drive - Motor Trend |

You guys keep restating what I'm saying They are the new kids on the block, it takes time to sway people's mind. Doesn't happen over night, all my posts have been trying to convey this yet you don't understand. Nissan has history, subaru has history, honda has history, mitsubishi has history, Toyota has history, ford and Chevy has history, is that **** hard to understand?? Feel free to hop on board, cause I won't any time soon lol |

Yeah that's my personal decision, I won't ever buy one, let me state that again and again Ever But to the rest of the people, they need to prove themselves. But red_zed I'd say you buy one now cause it has 348 Hp man |
It's the fact that you said 'I will never buy a car with a crooked........EVER..........EVER'
That means you are unwilling to EVER let them prove themselves. That's an old school close-minded mentality |
Quote:
But it's the truth, that's my personal decision, don't get offended by that. If you are willing to give them the chance, feel free. Let them prove their worth to you. I hope you don't let those numbers on paper sway you so easily lol |

You can stay on the Hyundai hating bandwagon. It's ok, everyone's doing it. The point of this thread was to say that the car is overlooked and underestimated by the mass, which it is. Sure it doesn't perform as good as the others, but it's thousands less, what do you expect? With a few mods its a really fun car to drive, which is really all that matters. |
Quote:
Hyundai came out yesterday. That's why they are overlooked. I'm done here. Won't be replying. You guys need to all buy the hyundais soon lol Look I'm not saying Hyundai has to have a racing program, all I'm saying is it takes time. Personally I wouldn't buy one though. |

Since we are talking about future cars, in an affordable price-point. GT-R heritage is a minor footnote in a larger discussion. But yeah, if we are whipping our c0cks out. Then yeah our NA v6's our superior to all in our price range and then some. Our cars give better feeback and more precision than most. But where is the car market heading? will we meet the challenges of tomorrow? The market is convoluted and going many directions... No one has claimed a competitor but one company for the next gen cars. HYUNDAI. As far as nissan, so far, i cant tell if we will keep battling porsche or make scion our new benchmark? lol so heritage and all, I find hyundai very interesting right now based on the competitor they chose. we still havent defined one and there is not even one small factoid out there except the exhaust not of a Q50. lol Lastly, when companies are spending alot of money on R&D to make performance parts for a car, and that car has as many parts for sale as us. There's gotta be a reason, and my comptitive radar goes up. http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...YUG0JRIqNrP42Q In the story of David & Goliath. I'd rather be David than Goliath. |
