Nice video! Man the GTR is one sick car. When they talk about optimized weight, do you really think they mean that or are they just trying to make an excuse to cover their use of heavy materials (which I believe is one of the reasons why the GTR is relatively cheap, as heavy materials are cheaper than lighter ones most of the time)

But in 2011, Nissan said for next generation, The GT-R will focus on weight reduction over power. So it will be nice to see the GT-R evolve as a lighter, AWD sports car over the next 7 years or so. Will it still be the affordable Super-car in the future too?

I doubt it, the prices have kept increasing every year. Don't get me wrong, I feel like its the only car that you actually pay for the performance and not the badge, but the better they make it (unless they skip out on reliability) then the more expensive it will be. My bet is the next gen gtr will be as expensive as the outgoing one, and will again keep getting more expensive every year. Is it still relatively cheap? for a sub 7:20 ring lap time, hell ya it is!

I wonder if next gen will also be as loud and noisy on the inside as the current one as there will be even more weight reduction..

As long as they stay comparatively cheaper to the comp. the GT-R will always be a good buy, even with increases. The GT-R when it first came out started @ $79,900 and topped out @ $90,000... Everyone thought Nissan was dillusional for pricing it so high...

Then came the track tests and comparos.

5 years and $17,000 more in base MSRP later. It's considered a performance bargain. lol Go figure.

the R36 is already in the works, which will probably drive down the prices of the R35 slightly(unless its a total flop). The GTR has been around for a very long time and I honestly dont see it going anywhere. I think it will probably remain Nissans flagship performance car for generations to come. It also gets substantial updates each year, which effects resale on older models more than cars that remain the same thoughout their lives. Theres also the upcoming NSX and possibly a few others that are just rumors at this point. If they end up being direct competitors with the GTR then it will also effect resale. While I don't think these things will kill the resale value by any means, I do think they'll bring it down a little more than some might expect. it will probably be a long time before it gets into the 20's or 30's, but I do think it will eventually get there.

the R36 is in the works and will be a hybrid but its around 3-4 years off

the 2015 GTR debuting in November is getting a nice makeover and will run the car to the end of its lifecycle
