Default I'm a college student, alternatives?

So as much as I would love a 370z, it will be a few years before i can buy one. I am very passionate about cars, and I'm a fan of nissan's rwd cars. I need some opinons on what experianced builders and owners of old nissan cars have on what is a easy, dependable, and cheap nissan thats rwd to play with until i can get my hands on a 370z. The first that comes to mind are S30 Z's, S13/14, and z33. Now I own an s30, a 75 to be exact, but it is quite a problem child and beyond a state of repair in my current situation. Pluse it's an auto haha. So of the 4 cars i listed, what would you say, in your opinon is the best choice for a young kid(19)?

Where you talking about legit S13/S14s or doing a body kit on a similar year 240SX with a possible SR20 swap?

I was going to suggest, if you wanted a Nissan RWD, either a used 350Z or a 240SX. Either one could be had at a much more reasonable price than the going market for a 370Z. Insurance is probably cheaper on a 240SX, making it much easier to save for either performance parts or for money to buy a 370Z when you are out of college. Just my

a 240sx is a legit S13/s14, we just don't have the s15 body style. Just like a 240-280z is a legit s30 and a 350Z is a legit Z33.

I say go for the 350Z.

I thought the 240SX in the US carried a different body kit VS. the Silvias?

1994 Silvia S14

1994 240SX

why not go get a s13, and swap an sr20det or rb20det into it. Chassis and engine will only go around 3-4k. Dropping the engine might need labor.

My best friends brother got everything done for 4.5k, labor and all. Pulls like a demon.

slightly different body kits, but they are still both S14s. They just call it a Sylvia and we call it a 240SX.

Ahh, I was under the impression S14 was a direct reference to the Silvias, as in JDM, where as ours were not truly considered S14

yeah go for the 350
or you could be like me (a fellow 19yr old)
& join the army and make moneys in the medical field of the army
bc I have basic training this August followed by almost a year of AIT
(most AIT are about 9-29 weeks) and I will be back in my hometown
late 2010 and have my 370 along with a free ride through college
to continue my medical career, what are you going to college for?

If you REALLY want a 370, you could do what either of my buddies did.

One, like the person above, joined the army and makes payments of around $800 a month for the car. I don't think he put anything down either.

Two, you convince your parents to pay for your car (as an early "gift" for graduating college of course). Either way works I suppose.

If those aren't options you can pick up a used 350 for super cheap right now. Their value is plummeting due to the economic downturn and the 370's release.

I'd say just get a 240sx most you can find on the cheap and with a little work can be made into fun cars that will fill the gap til your ready to move up to a Z.

If I were you, I would find out how much cash you can have in hand and start your search from there. If you can afford to pay for a 350Z in cash, go for it, if not, look into the 240sx. College is hard enough to pay for as it is so buying a car might not be the smartest move. I'd love to get rid of my Eclipse and pick up a 350Z but right now a new car is pretty low on my list of priorities. That's just me though.
