That's a very nice choice you made. You should be pleased with mechanical reliability (b/c Toyota-sourced engine)...

When you mentioned something that will put a joker smile on your face, this came to mind:

- C63 AMG, but it's automatic :-/

Nice choice  and I think the color is quite nice...given I am coming from a Speedway Blue Tacoma...and my favorite color is blue. Edit: The one around here is laser blue and he has the soft top conversion done. I just looked up the s club racer and it is baby blue  doh my mistake.

She arrived! Car came in a day early, needs a wash and wax, told the dealer not to do it. Will post pics soon! It is absolutely amazing and sounds incredible!

Yep.

I would recommend buying a used whatever it is, and then in the next couple of years check out: C7, 370Z replacement, new mustang, etc.

EVERYONE is coming out with some really neat stuff now, and hinting at awesome stuff in a couple of years.

Blow your cash now, and then be pissed later--or buy used now, and flip for little/no-loss then and get something neat/cool/until-then unavailable.

I would do that, if I were you. I bought a 2012 370Z NOW because I plan on being in "house/land" mode for the next 5 years and wanted a "keeper" until 2020 or so.

*ETA*

That's what I get for only reading page 1.

Congrats on the Exige! I doubt you pass many of 'em! There are only 1 or two in my town (@250K people).

Found a serious contender, will let you guys know if I end up getting it. I really appreciate the suggestions. Here's my list of potential purchases as I thought of them and rejected many.

1) Z06: Easy to fall in love with the power but I can't get over the build quality. Banks don't like it much either. Build quality is good, interior is not. You're going to the wrong bank, mine was loved by all!
2)Viper: If it was the new new new one, I'm in but that's not possible. I drove one a looooong time ago, before the newer 600hp. Its a psycho car but I will never be able to get the most out of it. Damn wide as well. I felt that way about my Z06.
3) 911 Turbo: The ones in my price range scare the hell out of me because I really want one and they are really awesome but no warranty and more than "slightly" used are not helping. Yep.
4) M3, a great overall car, but I loved the e46 M3 so much and never got one, the e92 doesn't give me the same feeling. On a personal note, I spent so much time with the Z striving to chase and surpass an m6 e92 M3, I feel weird about it. Still its high on the list of candidates. E92 is a nice car, the E46 always felt cheap to me, had a friend who had one.
5) Boxster S: What a great car! I hate 'verts.
6) 1M: Wow, but the looks are ehhh, the most n/a feeling turboed car I've ever driven. The only people I know who own 1-series are flaming homosexuals and women or kids (no lie, those are the only people I know personally who own them. One kid playing baby-daddy, and one really gay agency nurse I work with. They are neat cars, but meh. I just don't feel any love for 'em.
7) M Roadster: with the heart of an e46 M3 this is my current #1 Sadly they are out of warranty, and a bitch of $$$ to repair. BMW is killer.
8) Lotus Exige S: My heart is still racing. Very small and very little comfort. If you don't like GM's build quality, this car won't set well with you.

This is not as easy as I thought...

My take on all those cars, as I literally considered, looked at, drove, or rode in most of them on your list. I see you got the Exige, and I hope you like it. I am very curious what you think of it in about a year's time. I fell out of love with my Z06 in about a year for much the same reasons I did not buy an Exige. They are totally badass, though, and if you like it, it's the only car you will ever truly love. Very unique!

To add to that, I've only seen one in the wild and it was parked waaay out at the mall (of all places). I parked my old 350 out by it (a space or two apart - enthusiast courtesy ).

OP, we need some :pics: !!!

The only one I see belongs to someone who either works at Best Buy, or is constantly shopping there every time I shop there, lol. It's orange/black.

Awesome choice!

If you get that thing up to 275hp it will feel like a rocket ship given that it is only a touch over 2000 lbs.

The color package is part of what makes it the "club racer" edition, I think it will grow on you. They make horrible daily drivers but it is a fantastic weekend corner carver - as long as you don't need to carry anything :)

Cmike2780 04-25-2012 09:25 AM

I've only seen a few Exige's in NY. Congrats OP....now if we only had a proper track.

NYBladeZ 04-25-2012 10:34 AM

Still smiling, will post pics as soon as I can find my camera

Pics!!

my personal choice would be the 996 911 Turbo at that price but you're dead on about not having a warranty and if I recall correctly the last generation had some issues with the engine. I forgot what it was called. Similar to how some NSX's had the snap ring failure.
