Life's latest curveball...This one is good

Before reading please do not take anything as me bragging. By no means do I intend to insult or put any one down or come off as a spoiled "brat." I know this is the internet and frankly am sharing a lot, but I have great respect for this forum and its members. I am 28 years old, married, work my *** off and earn everything I have in one form or another. With that said I humbly ask you to continue reading.

It is midnight in New York and I've had a hell of a day. As some of you may know I sold my Z monday. My rant by a former owner thread details my history and love for the Z and my feeling of loss, I miss her :(. I sold the Z to save for a house. That's the old stuff...

The New stuff...for confidentiality and privilege purposes I will keep the background details light. I have come into a large sum of cash, now I'm not talking millionaire, by no means am I that lucky but enough cash where I can afford to buy a house comfortably and.....GET BACK INTO THE CAR MARKET :driving::happydance:. The wife gave the green light, she knows my passion of cars and the empty garage space is upsetting even if I try not to discuss it. I humbly believe God rewards us for our patience and sacrifice and I cannot be thankful enough for the wife, family, friends and yes, my Boss for getting me here. Enough of the mushy stuff, moving on.

I don't need a daily driver, I don't have kids, I drive a 2008 Camry and/or a Honda Pilot. My family has a plethora of daily drivers, don't ask me why, my Dad hoards boring cars, 3 drivers 5 cars (2 identical 2008 Camrys, 2006 Honda Pilot, 2010 X5, 2011 Ford Edge). I purchase and maintain my own "pleasure vehicle" and have Tier 1 credit. So my fellow Z heads and car aficionados, what do I get? I don't want to blow all my cash, so I'm capping it at $50,000.00, the book is open for anything, except another Z. Here is my criteria in order of importance.

1-Manual, NOT NEGOTIABLE
2-Nimble above average handling
3-Exclusivity (can't have an all carbon Z and get a Honda can I?)

I am extremely picky, I love loud cars and I don't need creature comforts. I want a car that makes my heart race and puts a Joker smile on my face. So what can you guys think of?

memorylasts 04-20-2012 11:28 PM

Used Z06?

XwChriswX 04-20-2012 11:31 PM

Are we talking $50k to purchase, or car + mods = $50k?

Maybe a new Subie BRZ? ~$30k loaded, then $20k to play with modding? Would be fun..

NYBladeZ 04-20-2012 11:34 PM

Not really looking to build another car, I want a more complete machine this time around. BRZ was a possibility but I'm 28 and I have a feeling every teen is going to find a way to get one soon.

I don't like the Z06.

NeverBoneStck 04-20-2012 11:35 PM

That's great ... But , God rewarded you with cash and riches ?? Why can't it just be that you worked hard and played your cards right ? 50,000.00 can get you a lot of play.....

shadoquad 04-20-2012 11:36 PM

Something with a smooth shifter i hope

A mix of both bud...I didn't find a bag full of cash, I just had something work out better than anticipated.

Older model M5, or new M3?

NYBladeZ 04-20-2012 11:41 PM

^^ I love the older m5, the v10 was great. If I did the M3 I would want an e46.

Would either of those be within your $50k budget?

shadoquad 04-20-2012 11:42 PM

Yeah, but e46 are affordable to teens as well.

NYBladeZ 04-20-2012 11:44 PM

I know, damn it this is what happens when you get closer to 30, I'm in no man's land.

NYBladeZ 04-20-2012 11:47 PM

First idea was CLK Black Series but its too expensive and no manual. Second idea was the boyhood dream of a used F355 but I can't afford to maintain a Ferrari yet. There's the M5 but finding the manual is very hard and the consensus on that car is if you get it, get the SMG. The Z06 lacks exclusivity and something about Long Island Vette drivers irks the hell out of me.

XwChriswX 04-20-2012 11:47 PM

Would you be open to still making payments if you bought a car more than $50k with $50k down?

shadoquad 04-20-2012 11:59 PM

What about a lotus exige?

memorylasts 04-21-2012 12:01 AM

^^ x2 beter then first idea... used would be ~30-40k

NYBladeZ 04-21-2012 12:09 AM

I'm leaning toward not making payments. Honestly, this whole thing happened so fast I have a lot to weigh. If I pay all up front I'm without payments but take all liability, if I make payments it weights on my credit...Lotus Exige is a prime contender I'll be driving one extensively this weekend along with the 1M, I know someone who bought a 1M and got himself into some $ trouble and needs to unload not sure how I feel about it being white though.

shadoquad 04-21-2012 12:11 AM

1m is sweet, too

daisuke149 04-21-2012 12:19 AM

its SLIGHTLY more than the 50k... but Audi TT RS....

new car = no hassle. AWD = usable even if you get caught with weather. Audi's are also more liveable day to day, in terms of the fact that you live in NY. Not that you will drive it every day, yet its also still a ridiculously fast car.

or if your not looking for a track car, but sometihng quite fun...

look into a maseratti.. mm.

kdo2milger 04-21-2012 12:25 AM

2012 Ford Raptor crewcab. 56k msrp. You should be able to get one under invoice

NYBladeZ 04-21-2012 12:31 AM

Comes in stick? If I lived in PA or an area where I could off road it I would want one. I looooved the old SVT Lightening.

kdo2milger 04-21-2012 12:38 AM

There awesome trucks.

I traded my z for a 2012 Titan pro-4x...the mod bug bit me off the lot lol...

All in all I enjoy it.

Have u test drove any Audi's

NYBladeZ 04-21-2012 12:48 AM

Not really, I have slammed gears in my cousins paddle shift s5. Great car but too soft. I was looking at a few M coupes or hell even an old M coupe with the s54 motor.

kdo2milger 04-21-2012 12:51 AM

M3

Or go home LOL

enkei2k 04-21-2012 09:36 AM

There's lots of M3's in NY, at least where I'm from so it really isn't 'exclusive'.

Have you considered Porsche Boxster or the Z4? I think those are ~50k. Are you looking new or used? Lots more options of course if you're looking used.

daisuke149 04-21-2012 10:12 AM

TT-RS = exlusive and soft? hrmm. no more than the m3 would be.

ZMan8 04-21-2012 10:15 AM

get a Lotus, more rare& super fun.

370zproject 04-21-2012 10:54 AM

1998 Lotus Esprit V8

or whats another 50k buy a gtr when u make more and be done

Lemers 04-21-2012 11:34 AM

He said that he was looking for exclusivity. Much as those Mustangs are rare, you can't really tell the difference between them and a V6 unless you're right up on them. There's very little visual difference to one of the more common performance cars out there.

NYBladeZ 04-21-2012 12:11 PM

Drove an M roadster this morning, very nice...searching for the hardtop coupe or maybe the older Clownshoe with the s54 motor.

I guess I just like sleepers

NYBladeZ 04-21-2012 12:18 PM

If this had been a year or two ago I would be running for the first clean Terminator I saw, not a fan of the modern retro look.

Lemers 04-21-2012 12:22 PM

If you can wait the next mustang is supposed to be more euro. And the extended the Shelby agreement through 2015 and beyond.

NYBladeZ 04-21-2012 12:24 PM

SVT didn't need Shelby, Shelby needed SVT. The 4.6 cast iron DOHC with the eaton s/c was bangin. The most powerful and fastest Stang until the recent 5.0.

Lemers 04-21-2012 12:28 PM

I want this

There are also a lot of 3 series running around to take away the exclusivity of the M3

:iagree: and in fact, one can buy a 335i and make it nearly as fast.

DarkJak 04-21-2012 01:00 PM

Lightly used Cayman or Evora would have the exclusivity.

Can't think of much else that hasn't been mentioned already.

Nice the hear that things paid off. Being in the car market is fun :)

NYBladeZ 04-21-2012 01:17 PM

If I went with a Cayman I'd have to somehow talk the Mrs. into allowing me to get a turbo for it. Cayman = evolution of 911 but Porsche won't admit it.
