I <3 Miatas. They really are the "affordable" option. You sacrifice power for affordable sports car feel. Few cars can offer that connected feeling like driving a Miata, certainly few at that price point.

Since everyone's listed the usual suspects already (i.e. the most obvious choices), here's a few more worth consideration:

A. Subaru SVX

B. Toyota MR2 (AW11, SW22, W30)

C. Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX

D. Caterham Roadsport

E. Mazda AZ-1

Is a GT-R or ZR1 really "affordable" ? If they are, the Porsche 911 should be on the list.
