No don't think I could, I love that fact that I don't see Z's on every corner, that would definitely be lost with this car

If I didn't already have a Z and was on a stricter budget, it would definitely be an option...stock wheels are yuck though

Would you really buy FRS, BRZ over a 2013 Gen coup with 271hp,274tq?

RWD, Affordable, turbo 4 with decent power and probably good MPG. New gen coupe has the right ingredients for sales.

I wouldn't get either. If I had 25k to spend and not much more I would hands down get a WRX. I think for 25k there really isn't a better car. Not saying the Gen coup is bad, it's just that it hasn't even come out yet and will be new to the market where as the Suby has been proven. I know that the moment I take the car home I can go to Cobb for Stage 2 and have myself a high 12 sec car that is still very reliable, all weather, holds 4 people comfortably instead of either coupes cramped backseat, and will still corner decently enough.

However, I would agree with what you are implying. The BRZ/FR-S is substandard compared to other cars in it's price range except the Miata. I think people are expecting this car to do well like the miata but they are forgetting one thing; it's not convertable. The miata does well because it's cheap, sporty, and you can put the top down. It's a great car for someone who can care less about performance but still wants something sporty and fun. 99% of Miata drivers are not on the auto-x course as some would have you think. The problem with the BRZ/FR-S is that it's basically in the same category as the Miata in that it will be for those who could care less about performance, except that you can't put the top down. When you have that 30-40 year old guy or girl who wants something cute and fun, chances are they are going to go with the one that they can put the top down.

I think the brz can be compared to an s2000 as well.

Right. But you forgot to account something in..

IT LOOKS UGLY

UNKNOWN_370 12-14-2011 08:59 PM

If I only had 25k i'd buy a used Z or G. Lol.

PS looks are subjective.

brucelidat 12-14-2011 09:14 PM

Looks are subjective and though it's true you can get a Z or other better car for the same cost used, I don't like comparing used to new for prices. It's like comparing modded to stock, it's not really fair. It's like saying I could get a used GT-R for the price of a new IS-F. Yeah, but that's not like saying they are in the same league/market either. It's also cool that that's what you would do. I just don't think it's fair to compare the 2 that way.

brucelidat 12-14-2011 09:15 PM

Unknown, definitely not knocking on your comment or anything. I am sure many would make the same decision.

I'm not comparing... I'm just saying. Lol. I basically disagree about comparing used to new is like comparing modded to stock. Night and die. Especially if you're buying certified. And lord knows I've bout enough cars to know the difference. But if we gonna get technical to that degree then I wouldn't pick a gencoupe for 25k because I'm pretty sure the 2.0 will start right under 28k. I think gen prices are going up do to kia working on a RWD coupe.
So the FR-S seems like the best choice right now. That or a WRX. Miatas are too girlie.

I own a 2010 Genesis Coupe and a 370z... I'd never give up my Z for a car like the Genesis.

Nice, very nice. Which tranny did you go with in the Genni, and which model? If its the manual tranny, tell us about to ur experience with it so far. One of the reasons I didn't pick one up was because of the notchy tranny.

TypeOne 12-15-2011 09:17 AM

I wouldn't trade it in for one of those... HOWEVER...

If Subaru decides to release a turbo version, then yes.. I would.

Until then, I'm waiting for the 2014 Mustang GT. 8-O

Being that it's a derivative of the Evo's 4B11, I chose the 2.0T and opted for the automatic, since I do share the car with my wife. I dont like the software for the paddle shift, it feels dumb compared to the Z. The turbo is way too small, and peaks to quickly... I'd say, if anyone has the opportunity and the extra cash, get a manual 2.0T and upgrade the turbo along with all the supporting mods.

Forrest 12-18-2011 07:10 AM

Your right I forgot about the WRX. It still just proves that there is a lot more out there giving out some bang for buck.

I think Nissan and Toyota need to get into a slugfest and bring back the inline 6, slap a turbo on it and let tuners have the rest of the fun... A V8 is a given, it's easy and obvious power.. Just my take.

m4a1mustang 12-18-2011 05:38 PM

A good V8 will make power... a bad one... not so much! Same for any other engine.

Not to nitpick but those 4.6Ls are great engines. Absolute boost monsters.

A better bad V8 would be the 305 TPI motors Chevy had in their Camaros long ago. :icon17:

Jordo! 12-19-2011 04:06 AM

Only if they offer a boosted one that is in the same power:weight ballpark as the Z (preferably with room to grow).
