Want! :O Look at those mean bumper grills.
|
How many other 200mph cars are there? And how many can be had for less than $60k?
|
This is definitely going to have the lowest MSRP of all the 200 mph production cars out there.
Hell, even the GT-R is rated at 193. I know it doesn't have much practical application, but the cool factor associated with 200+ is hard to ignore. |
im guessing this car should be around 3.8 0-60 and probably a 11.8-12.0 1/4

Wow.... Ford is really stepping their game up. That GT500 is sick!. I can't wait to see the track time.

I know i thought the ZR1 vette with it's 638 sc'ed horse power was badazz. The GT500 has more and the price tag is WAY better, plus it fixed it's funny looking butt. |
It's not all about HP though, you can start comparing a ZR1 with a GT500
|
uhmm GT500 or GTR
|
Just looking at hp vs $ the zr1 starts at 112k.

FWIW GT500 is set to take on the ZL1, not the ZR1.
It was confirmed a bit ago that the Camaro ZL1 weighs 4,120 lbs. So not only does the GT500 have a 70 hp advantage, it is also 270 lbs lighter. GT500 - 5.92 lb/hp ZL1 - 7.1 lb/hp Big difference. |
Still not in my acceptable hp/lbs range :(

ZR1 – 3350 lbs, 620 hp Power to Weight Ratio = 5.40 Z06 – 3130 lbs, 505 hp Power to Weight Ratio = 6.19 The power is close to the ZR1 but I just don't think the GT500 will be able to put in on the ground like the ZR1 can |

It's in that space where it will probably trail them, or at least the ZR1, while it whoops up on its real target, the ZL1. |
And the "also showed" SRT 8
|
SRT8 Challenger doesn't even deserve an honorable mention.

Ya, someone else did and that's why I posted that. I agree 100% with you. The ZR1 is at a different level. As well as price lol

Is it confirmed to be still a LIVE Axle car or are they abandoning that archaic setup?

The redesign for 2014/2015 will have IRS and should be at a minimum 250 lbs lighter than present for the GT. |
perhaps not at least if you track it a lot it makes little difference but the suspension setup on the ZL1 beats it on track and off track.
|
We'll see what happens when they go head to head.
|
exactly...
they should have made these cars when gas was cheaper though..@ $4 and climbing this might be the last hoorah for High American HP cars..especially with mandates from the gov't coming for more economy sooner than later. |

The interesting thing, though, is even with 650 hp and 200+ mph top speed it still avoids the gas guzzler tax. 15mpg city and 23mpg highway... not bad! |
I believe one can compare the ZR-1 and the GT500. Sure, the ZL-1 is much closer and the CTS-V can enter the convo, but when we're talking about high hp beasts, rwd, American made...
They can be compared. Now, there are worlds of difference, but savour the fact that the choice exists while it does, because it probably won't be around forever :( |
