Wasn't 200 mph one of the supercar indicators?

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 11:48 PM

I could see it fetching between 50-55k before the dealer tacks on their stupid market adjustment or w/e they want to call it.

I do believe so.

I bet it will be gone for the new 2014 car.

I hope so. Regardless, DAMN! I'm really liking where ford is taking the 'stang. At this rate, the next gen will be incredible.

Nissan, wake the fVck up already!

Yeah but Supercars need to be really pricey. It might offer supercar performance, though.

Lemers 11-14-2011 11:50 PM

I want one. I talking to the wife tomorrow when I see her.

Now if they'd bring back the bullet green for the gt500 I'd be in heaven

Skeeterbop 11-14-2011 11:52 PM

Just reading the Motortrend article, that thing sounds like it will be sick! Lemers, can I pay you to get a ride in that thing if you do buy it? :D

From what has been confirmed so far with the next gen is it will be 250 lbs lighter (minimum) and it will have direct injection and most likely IRS. So 3,350 lbs at maximum and somewhere around 450hp for the GT.

The V6 might be getting replaced with a turbo 4.

This 2013 GT500, though, is pretty damn interesting. I knew it'd be around 600 hp but wasn't expecting 650, and certainly wasn't expecting Ford to throw out the big "200." Hopefully they put out some 'Ring times to see how it compares to the ZL1.

I disagree, it the car provides supercar performance stock, then by default, it is not a "supercar"?

Now exotic on the other hand, that a bit different, limited production #'s, price etc.

I judge if a car is "super" or not based off of it's stock performance abilitiy. Ie. the Viper ACR, ZR1 vette, GTR etc are all supercars, just like the 911 turbo and turbo S etc are as well.

I suppose you could say that all exotics are supercars, but not all supercars are exotic.

(and if an exotic car doesn't provide supercar performance for some reason, then it's more of a boutique type niche vehicle and not worth owning imo).

If we continue to debate this we will murder ourselves and many others, so let's agree to disagree. I was mostly being facetious as "supercar" is debated here often. :D

Also, I need to talk to Lou in the AM about this GT500. Where is that AA thread again?

I'm really really interested in seeing what the next gen 'stang turns out like. Ford is just hitting home run after home run with this car now. If nissan kills the Z, I can see picking one of the next gen GTs or Boss 302's as a nice addition to our Nismo Z at some point (unless the wife gets her way and we just pick up a lightly used GTR instead).

Agreed, I remember some of the convos on here about this topic. :icon17:

Things just keep getting better and better for car guys. I think we have a few more years of this left before Gov't comes in and makes us all buy one collective Prius.
