Exactly. I mean, do I need to be liked? Absolutely not. I like to be liked. I enjoy being liked. I have to be liked. But it's not like this, compulsive, need, to be liked. Like my need to be praised.

wow seriously?

Yeah I stick around because I enjoyed this forum the most. Plus I get info from Steve and Dan, who were former Z owners and now 5.0 owners just like me :)

So yeah guys, I am debating where to spend my $$$ next. Looks or function?

Looks: GT/CS fascia, with Boss splitter
(Steve, carpartsestore doesn't have those anymore :()

Function: MGW shifter

Both options are for ~400 bucks.

I will go back and forth on these option for a LONG time, just like Dan does with his exhaust... mwaaaahaaahaaaaaa :D

So, there has been a lot of talk recently about banning all of the 5.owners from the site. As most of you know, my second account (third acct really) is a mod account. So I've been thinking about this very seriously lately. I've come up with the following risk benefit analysis of banning all Mustang owners.

Benefits
  • Getting rid of all Mustangs would return this site to the heady days when the 370z was the best performance buy for the money (other than GenCoupes and M3's). We could pretend Mustangs don't exist.
  • We can talk all the smack we like about stangs. Bench racers and rag statisticians will love the opportunity to talk about how Stangs are "made for straights, but can't handle" and have "ancient SRA tech".
  • There would be no more condescension, because as we know, all 370z owners get along and never fight amongst themselves.
  • The site would be prettier and better balanced

Risks
  • Mustang owners are great cuddlers. We would miss spooning with them in the early morning dew.
  • Because Race Car
  • 5.0 liters of American "cause I told you so"
  • We would lose the perspective of owners of performance cars with decent pickup and a Front engine, Rear wheel drive layout.
  • The Z needs to look pretty parked next to something.

I say we let them stick around. :tiphat:

:bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl: :bowrofl:

I say we ban them all :|

It's slightly annoying, but you're right, those are the members that couldn't tell a wrench from an ice cream cone, so it's not that big of a deal.

One thing to note is that Modshack has already moved on to his 61st (I think) car. He's in a new GTI now.

Edit: Also wanted to add that I can tell the difference between the guys that are just joking and the ones that are serious. There are only a couple that are actually serious.

Srs Shahid is always srs.

I say forgo the shifter for now... see how you like the stock one over time and ask the transmission breaks in.

I'd consider an intake + tune if you aren't opposed to it. Hard to argue with +30-40 whp.

Ya, I really see no need for a shifter personally

Alchemy 10-04-2011 09:56 AM

The Mustang owners, at least in this thread, are harmless. Red & m4a1 are great contributors with lots of knowledge. As Ive said before its nice to have some guys around that drive something different, esp the Mustang, one of our main competetors. Just because its performance is on par if not slightly better in some ways, its not reason to get all butt hurt about and ban you guys. I know I can come off as a hater but Im really not. Its just healthy competition.

I was thinking about a Steed CAI too. However, I don't think I want to go with a tune "just yet", esp under warranty. So in your guy's opinion, performance mod wise, if I go with the GT500 mufflers and a Steeda CAI, I should NOT need a tune correct?

I saw that, and though I like it, I don't like the fact that the Saleen grille gets rid of the big fogs... those are a trademark of the GT's...

steeda rquires a tune if not mistaken....if you want a CAI that doesnt need a tune looking into BBK, R2C, AFE, and AEM are the ones i know of...the main reason for the tune is to accomadate the larger MAF housing

I did not know that :( Thanks for pointing that out.

The problem I have with the other CAI's you mentioned is that they're not true cold air's... if anything, will be warm air under hood again :( Maybe I just stick with K&N drop ins or WIX dry filter drop ins.

Air Filters Direct Fit IRF Ford Mustang GT 2010 V8-4.6L; 2011-12 V8-5.0L<br> 30-80179 - aFe Power

this is the drop in i went with, its dry flow AFE..It DOES fit our car... i had a JLT CAI at 1 point but sold it...i guess am holding out dynos on the western motorsports intake

m4a1mustang 10-04-2011 10:36 AM

No-tune CAI or drop-in filters are not worth it, IMO.

They wanted to hearken back to the days of 240Z's by reliving the chronic rust problems.

Do any of you have Sync installed and what are your thoughts? Any issues?
