Thinking about picking one up. They look freaking sweet in pics...how they look in person?
Also, having trouble finding the dyno comparo you mentioned... You happen to have a link?

I still get a kick out of the time we were sitting in the lodge, and got lance's "fuckfuckfuckfuckfuck" over thr radio while there were a bunch of kids/parents just hanging around

Steve: lance, that was....highly inappropriate....

its a pretty badass intake man, i've never been a CF guy myself but JLT makes a damn good intake, no rough edges whatsoever. I think this is the thread, look for the posts by Chris Young, hes the one that does the comparo, Airraid and JLT make the most low/mid torque, you'll have to dig a bit.

check pg. 3

"We test the airaid with the insert out.

As for the JLT, it did VERY well low end, it stood out quite a bit from the rest. Peak (top end), it was about the same as the Steeda and C&L. The airaid was only slightly ahead of the pack top end (peak), not enough to brag about.. maybe 1-3 hp. However, the mid-range the air-aid walked on the rest of the competition in regards to torque.

The Airaid and JLT came out on top in multiple tests."

I hear the exhaust note is loud. Have you had trouble hearing your Conway Twitty CD's over its burble? Have the bucket seats restricted your ability to shoot guns out the window or play banjo while driving?

Merle Haggard thank you very much, and no the seats dont get in the way, however, they do inhibit the ability to comfortably shift and sip my fifth o' jim simultaneously. :shakes head:

maybe they revised the settings in the newer models, used to happen to me a dozen times a day, it basically locks the 2nd gear gate and you shift into 4th, most ridiculous concept ever.

JLT is definately the best intake, and the only that fits the boss manifold too:tup:

Yeah. I noticed it on vettes I drove...still haven't gotten it to kick in on the stang. Might be that I havent really driven in traffic yet...plus with 3.73s, I think I get out of the lock rev range pretty quickly.

Good info--you happy you went with the boss IM?

Red370 09-20-2011 02:44 PM

I like the look of the boss mani, but from what i've read, it kills your low end torque and only increases power above 5k, is this true?

JLT makes good stuff. I'd also recommend getting the JLT Oil Separator.

I think they did make some revisions to the skip shift for the 2012 cars, but it's still a good thing to get rid of.

the tq loss is negligible, i didnt even feel it. After 3 datalogs with BBR they corrected all tq loss, there is gains under the curve, then it ******* skyrockets around 6700rpm...my redline was bumped to 7500 so I made power all the way up to that...let me see if i can find the dyno graph in my flash

A local guy here had the 302 IM on his car. There is a slight hit to low end power but the gains at the top end are substantial.

With a tune, you have silly gains of like +45 whp at 7k where the stock manifold has dropped off and the Boss IM just keeps pulling.

dunno if i'd wanna stay that high with the stock cast rods

Red__Zed 09-20-2011 03:06 PM

Don't a lot of people raise the rev limit to 7500? How safe is that?

the forged powdered-metal connecting rods are totally fine in NA applications, i dont think anyone is spinning more than 7500

Kind of off topic (like it matters? :p) but is it worth it to raise the rev limit on the Z and to how much? Will probably need an UpRev tune after I get HFCs early next year so I'm trying to figure out everything I want to get done with the UpRev.

Not sure how safe 7,500 is. I wouldn't feel comfortable spending a lot of time up there. My limiter was bumped up to 7,300.
