It's harder to tell with the recent WRX's because lot of SCCA entries are still 2002-2007 models. There were many at first, but twiddles very quickly over the years due to what I said.

The new ones, I do not know, but I'm guessing previous years' experience scared them off from track/auto-x.

prosolo d stock had 2 2011 wrx's. they seem to be holding up very well.

local entries here are also mostly 11s that seem to be holding up well.

Just ordered the Invidia Q300 CBE w/ Ti tips, Invidia cat-less downpipe, and Cobb short-ram intake with airbox for my STi. Gonna be sweeet! :excited:

djpathfinder 11-10-2011 02:40 PM

Cool! I went with catted DP to keep volume down a bit, along with Q300 Ti tip cbe and Cobb AP. To be installed next week.

Looks like I'll have almost the same setup. I just spoke to Cam and we decided against the intake, but my setup will still differ from yours as I'm going with a catless DP. You're getting a tune as well, right? Actually, you might not need a custom tune as you're going with the catted DP. (The off the shelf tunes are for catted.)

So what's the verdict on intakes? Are they really that helpful on the Subaru? I hear conflicts just like on the Z, that the stock intake is plenty good and the real power unlock is just tuning after exhaust / downpipe.

I read that intakes are a waste for the STi. Drop in filters are fine. My tuner agrees.

I'm going to get Cam's custom stg II map, no dyno tune.

STI only, i wonder if WRX benefits from an intake.

...is there even a difference?

Not that I'm significantly modding Akiha or anything...

Well, consider this. If you go to Cobb's website and look at their page for the AP, they post dyno results showing the gains. Then pull up their page for their intake. No dyno results. No claims of gains made. Draw your own conclusions.

djpathfinder and I are both going with AFE drop-in filters, btw.

Whitemtl370 11-15-2011 08:44 PM

The biggest gains you will see on an sti: downpipe, ELH's although undesirable, front mount, ebcs, dyno tune. On the 2011 sti these mods will yield 330-340 awhp on pump, jon at cobb socal is the man to see.

i think i need to be schooled what an EBCS is and what it offers. it's a valve upgrade, isn't it?

djpathfinder 11-15-2011 11:17 PM

Psshh! electronic boost control solenoid...anyone who knows anything about cars know what this is. J/K. :roflpuke2: I googled the acronym. Here's where you can buy one:
STi & WRX Performance Parts: Perrin Electronic Boost Control Solenoid Upgrade (SAVE $30!!)

I put the Cobb intake in and I noticed a big difference up top. It holds the torque a lot better and Really opened everything up.
