Oh I forgot to mention, I also got Whiteline swaybars installed, the 24mm adjustable ones both front and rear. The front has two settings - soft and firm, and the rear has three settings - soft, medium, firm. I set the front to soft and the rear to firm. This pretty much eliminates the understeer that comes standard with AWD cars and makes it handle more like RWD with more of a bias towards oversteer. I love how my car corners now. |
Hey guys I'm in the same boat as most of you seriously considerly picking up a 11 Sti. I've had a couple problems with my Z and looking to get rid of it. Still love the thing every time I drive it. Had a question for you guys currently with the Sti. I have 18x8 rims with blizzak lm-60s on them that I used for the Z, will I be able to keep them and throw them on the Sti or is 18x8 to big? I see most people going with 17x7s. Thanks a lot guys

Honestly im not sure of the offsets. I bought them second hand and have not been able to find any info on offsets. There MSW type 20's 18x8. Thanks for the info though I have a buddy who lives an hour from me with a 11 Sti I'll have to drive down there and try them out on his. Thanks again for the info and speedy responses.

Even if the wheels don't work on the STi, you might be able to re-use the tires themselves.
|
Look at the back side of the wheel. The wheel specs should be stamp on the back. You'll see "18x8" somewhere. Then you should see either "ET" or "+" (or something like that) followed by 2 numbers (eg ET 30), which tells you (+30 mm) offset.
Like Semtex said you could still use the tires so long as overall diameter is around OEM spec (25.6", IIRC). |

I like the new impreza look... I would buy the WRX first though. It doesn't scream "I'M A BOY RACER" as much with the shorter wing... of course you could always get a more subtle one :-) The thing is that unless you are going to track your car, paying the extra 10 grand just isn't worth it IMO.
Having a turbo and a 2.5L opens up a lot of torque possibilities which I like. Subaru has also great safety ratings over the last few years all of their models have met the top safety pic. I owe a lot on my car... but if I could pay it off, i'd buy the WRX first. |
