I love it when...

... I go the Ford dealership to drool over the 2010 Mustang GTs and all the salespeople go outside to drool over the 370Z.

I'm curious to see how the '10 GTs with the 500HP S/C packages are going to do. They still weigh a lot, but I'm still curious. Mid 12's to high 11s?

BTW, the New-Edge GTs are making 700HP with the Mammoth Blower. Very impressive to me because I was damn sure those modular motors would NEVER make any good power.

It all depends on how they hook up. They are kind of heavy but I'd expect them to be mid-12s with the 500 hp package. Once guys start tweaking the suspension they'll cut down a lot of time. Mustangs can be sick out of the hole!

I love them. I tested a 2010 GT two weeks ago and it was a blast. The factory exhaust is the absolute best that's ever come on a Mustang... It sounds ridiculous. Just loved driving it. It's a mid 13 second car for sure. No comparison to the Z in terms of acceleration and handling, but just the fact that you're cruising around in a v8 Mustang is reason for a mile-wide grin.

I came from an '03, so I know all about the mod motor hate, but damn do they love boost and gear. I ran a 13.5 @ 101 in a 5spd with nothing but a 4.10 gear. Just shows you how wicked they are out of the hole with that low of a trap.

You must be at sea level. LOL

When I was racing my 2002 Trans Am WS.6 a while back, there was a guy with an 01 GT with every bolt on + 4.10 gears. His car was pretty much exactly the same speed as my car. I was pretty shocked actually. My car did pretty well and I had drag radials, but my WS.6 was bone stock at that point. His was also a 5-speed while mine was an auto. I obviously launched better with the drag radials and auto, but in the end, he didn't pull me nor did I pull him.

LOL, I was, just about. I think the track was about 100ft above sea level. I ran that 13.5 on a 1.93 60' on the stock 245 Goodyears.

In my Mustang days I feared the LS1. I could hold my own in a short pull but from a roll or anything beyond an 1/8th mile or so and there really wasn't a chance.

I love me some American muscle.

Yeah. I miss my LS1. I'm dropping an LS1 with every bolt-on + h/c package in my 300zx. Should make about 490 to the wheels, so about 560 from the crank.

I remember back in the days I would race my friends SRT-4 and on the freeway we'd be dead even up until 90MPH. Then I'd just walk right by him! Good times. I'd hear on the 2-way "GOD DAMN LS1'S!!!!" I raced a bone stock LS1 for a LONG time until people caught on and started buying Trans Ams and Camaros and modifying them! LOL Then I had to step up my game.

You know what they say... the LS1 was built by Jesus himself! LOL Those cars were mean. I'd see a Trans-Am in my rear view mirror and get the chills LOL.

I've still got mine parked right next to my Z. The LS1 was built by Jesus himself, but unfortunately the rest of the car was built by GM . It's collecting dust now with expired tags, waiting to be ripped to peices and have its engine stolen for other projects.

More than one Mustang driver around here. I bought one of the first Mod DOHC Cobras in '96. It ran 13.4 in the 104 range stock with 4.10 gears but that didn't last long. Saleen installed one of the first Vortech SCs and it was tuned at Powertrain Dynamics in Huntington Beach, CA.. It was in one of the mags but don't remember which. Made 401 rwhp and everybody couldn't believe it.
Later with exhaust and a real agressive chip for race gas, it ran 11.90 at 119 mph on street tires. I remember on that run I was paired up with a old Mopar with slicks. He left on me by a mile due to the tires and I remember the look on his face when I passed him right before the lights like he had the brakes on. The car was completely stock in appearance so he was just wtf??
Later-later we put a C4 auto in it and a Paxton Novi SC and ran low 10s at 135mph. She continued to progress (if you can call it that) and ended up a 9sec car making over 700 rwhp on the dyno but keeping a belt on that 25 lb sc was impossible to do within the NMRA Renegade class rules so I gave up and sold it and bought another Cobra. A 427 Cobra
