Now if only we could close off a few streets in DC to set up a road course... that would be fun. :icon17:

Cmike2780 06-10-2011 08:55 AM

The 09 ZR-1 did that in 7:26.4. Thats a huge gain. Wow, truly impressed. The likely GT-R Spec-V has some work to do.

flashburn 06-10-2011 06:14 PM

Check out the tires it's running though, they are basically street legal slicks.

Apprently, those are the stock tires.

"According to Corvette Chief Engineer Tadge Juechter, the 2012 ZR1 used in the video is “completely stock as it would be received by a real customer.” Juechter goes on to say, “We do have to add some safety equipment which actually adds weight to the vehicle and actually slows us down a little bit, but the rest of the car is to production specifications including alignment, trim height and everything you would normally expect out of a factory vehicle, up to and including the suspension parameters [and] the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires.”

b1adesofcha0s 06-10-2011 07:58 PM

Yeah those are now the stock tires for the ZR1. What they were saying is that those are the best street legal tires they could put on there.

m4a1mustang 06-10-2011 08:42 PM

Incredible. I've seen a lot of ring videos, but I've never seen a vette corner like that on the ring.

I hadn't noticed that at first. This thread's title is a bit more descriptive. Just a helpful tip moving forward, you'll get more looks if you have more descriptive thread titles.

Yeah, I noticed you posted earlier but your thread title was nondescript so i didn't view it at first. Honestly i thought you were posting about a new Fox reality show. :tiphat:

Import,

I actually looked at yours first, then checked out M4A1's. The difference I think was that you presented the video as a brash, in-your-face "Corvette uber-alles/ what now, Nissan GTR/ Suck it, b!tches" fire starter whereas M4A1's was more about recognizing the accomplishment of the 'Vette from a neutral, "car-enthusiast" standpoint. Which is cool, that's completely your call as how you put things out there, but it can make it a little awkward to comment on. Just how I see it, based on how your posts seem to trend.

Regardless, Jim Mero and the ZR1 deserve all the kudos, great use of the Sport Cups by Chevrolet, and Mero obviously has some big brass cajones. Excellent vid!
